Guardian robe questions

Sorry in advance if this is redundant, I tried searching for other threads but they're all ten years old and closed.

1) Does this thing actually still drop? Can anyone confirm they've looted one in like the last... 6 months? I don't mind something being stupidly rare, I kinda like camps like that, I just want to make sure I haven't been wasting my time. I know it's classic for it to drop during this timeline on p99, but things can get messed up and overlooked in patches etc.. I've been camping it for over two months now, have easily killed over 3000 guardians and have gotten basically every armor piece many times, including 3 bps and 4 legs. The rest I lost count but easily a dozen or more of every other piece.

2) Wiki is not exactly clear on it. It says the named guardians drop it, but the wiki article is a mob called "a gargoyle guardian". So should I be killing those too? Cause I've been avoiding them.

3) Some of the guardians in skyshrine are much harder than others. Do the harder ones offer any kind of increased chance to drop it? Cause I just stick to the low green ones that are easy to kill. I can do 10 per cycle that way and be full mana again before they start repopping.

It's definitely a horrible camp but I have made about 14k in sapphires and all the thurg pot mats I could ever want, so it hasn't been a complete waste of time in any case.

Yes it still drops. Friend of mine hit 8k kills before he got his,another got 3 in under 5k total...ss drop rates are awful.

1. It definitely still drops. These forums are littered with posts about "does X still drop" and "Y doesn't drop anymore." It's random and it's very rare. You aren't wasting your time (any more than you normally are when gaming).

2 & 3 I don't know.

Ok thank you, I figured as much but at a certain point even a nerd like me goes uhhh, what am I doing?

I almost never see other people trying to farm it either, that was another thing which made me think huh.. maybe something changed? Sometimes things are deemed to be out of era so they nerf\remove them. Who knows.

I will resume my sweaty grind.

They're not and cannot drop the robe. Only named Guardian gargoyle mobs.

It took me 2216 kills to get my robe - in that time I saw

and 142 sapphires

in talking with others, I would guess 4000 is in the camp of "somewhat unlucky".

Just confirming it drops only off the named Guardians as well

I'm finding them easiest to kill quickly on my druid, but once I'm kos all the annoying green trash drakes and crap body aggro, so now I'm trying to calculate how many guardians I can kill from ally before I have to fix faction to avoid annoying trash aggro, and if that number is worth it or if I should go back to my shaman. The robe is for shaman (have a guise it's gonna be epic). This is the most EQ camp ever haha.

I think you're thinking of wurm lord shawl, which is also stupidly rare and does drop from the fedhars.

I supercubed on my enchanter for like a year straight at fedhars and never saw a shawl.

The only thing we never saw was the weapons from up in the tower/library. Because, well back then everything was unknown and scary and very hard so we didnt go that far without a raid.

I literally quit playing everquest forever because I couldn't get a full set to drop for my main. Like, I was pretty tired of EQ by velious, but was the last straw.

That's because each piece of the guardian armor set is supposed to have an equal chance to drop, but on p99 they made the robe unclassically super rare like every other sought after item

If they did that to the robe they also did it do the BP legs and sword. I've gotten probably 30 of every other piece at this point, but only 3 bps and 5 legs and 2 swords. Still no robe.

I really don't mind the robe being so rare btw. I think it's a good change to make on an emu server where people are generally much more clued into everything compared to live classic. It doesn't have good stats, literally the only thing desirable about it is that it's a rare all\all robe. Making it less rare would just diminish it's value.

Workin on it. There have been a bevy of johnny come lately's farming it since i made this thread, suppose I should have seen that coming.

Although I will say this thing is so stupid rare it kind of overrides my normal sense of elf competition. Like I wouldn't even be mad if somebody else gets one who's only been at it for a day. At least somebody got one.

Exactly. You get more mad at the camp itself than your fellow elves, and you all kind of become allies against the camp.

Didn't read, but uh about 3 to 3.5k kills for my cursed robe on Blue. There's much better use of your limited time on Earth than a nipple star burst robe. Abandon hope.

I agree that getting VP robe could take less time, and would be more worthwhile since you are gaining DKP and helping your guild. Plus the stats are better.

VP robe is limited by which races can use it. Wood Elf/Half Elf Rangers can't use VP robe. So that's one reason for Guardian Robe's popularity. It is All/All.

Time invested in eq is effectively infinite, meaning it is essentially not a factor. You were going to spend that time on eq doing something anyway.

Literally quicker to quit for years, level a new rogue to 60 on another server. It's a much better and better looking robe, too.

Took me about 8k PHs and 6 months. This was early on in Velious so i missed out on alot of other fun stuff. At some point I strongly regret it but I was too deep into it to stop.

I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy lol. Never again! I dont even play that character anymore

We had a PD robe drop last week that went for roughly 150ish hours worth of DKP - which is I think on par with how long you'd expect to spend farming a Guardian Robe. Other guilds that prioritize VP more could see lower prices ofcourse.

I mean it's kind of all fashionquest when you think about it. What is more fashionable: having bis vulak\tunare loot or having a really cool looking shaman? It's all status-seeking.

Also I made almost 20k vendoring all those sapphires. So you can pay 80k to have somebody else farm the robe, or make 20k while farming it yourself.

If you did get a guise like ciderpress, you can have a robe graphic while in Dark Elf form as a Barb, Troll, or Ogre Shaman.

But yeah there isn't much point in a Barb/Troll/Ogre Shaman getting a guardian robe if they don't have a guise. I guess you could get one on the off chance a guide gives you an illusion, or a special event gives you an illusion item.

Haha no they don't. A good handful of people on green got one in the first 6 months or so of the server. It took me three attempts to get mine with the /list system and long lines. I lucked out and got one about three days before they took them out.

The mission was to end up with a very specific character: Female epic guise shaman with a guardian robe.

There are many ways to win everquest and I am truly sorry you don't got.
