Because the owners and operators of these servers don't care if anyone play on them. They have said so many times. They are just out to re-create Classic through Velious era EQ.

But there's one glaring problem with that: the players. So, get rid of the players and then they can truly realize their vision.

No. Leave blue alone. If you want to experience the "old p99", attach the sock and go to green. This is the longest I've ever stayed and enjoyed p99 and I have no desire to see it go back to the level of ignorance and toxicity we had prior.

I'm having fun on this museum project! Lol. Honestly, even without a new server ever: it's still fun to log in for a few months every few years, which has been my trajectory since 2020.

The playerbase is much different and much more aware of all the tips, tricks, exploits, item farms, etc than they were in 1999. There is no true way to recreate classic: because the only people going through that initial exploratory phase would be players brand new to EverQuest.

I think the only ones who truly want a new server are the mix-maxers, hardcore gamers that want achievments like server first -- or the ones that want Shrouds of Longevity for their monks, or Gnome Masks and Sceptres of Destruction.

I want a refresh just so the player base cycles and there is actual traffic in more than 10 zones. It’s CP highway, EC, and raid targets. Everything else is empty and no significant population in between.

I think after they saw what a dumpster fire Green became with the toxicity of raid targets, exploits, etc.. they shitcanned their idea of launching a new p99 every so often

P99 has become a sort of video game tortise, it's very slow and doesn't keep a schedule, but it'll get where it's going, eventually. I'm not sure if the head admin has even reached 40 years old yet. If there's one thing P99 has, it's time. Maybe I'll see some of you folks on P99: Vermillion when I'm seventy.
