Starting a new iksar

Warrior i do not think i could enjoy after playing sk
I do like fd so that means necro or shaman, if i do sky quest...
I think i will try shaman for a change.

So if you see a low shaman in fob it might be me.

Shaman is a great class. Iksar isn't the min/max choice by any means (no JBB etc) but FoB is the best newbie zone and gearing will get you up there eventually :)

IMO if you plan on heavily grinding and focusing on the Shaman (and have platinum) I would go a race that can use JBB

Have you created this new character? I have found myself in Lake of Ill Omen and for the past few days I have been grouping with an Iksar Warrior and Iksar Shaman (23-26) at the Lake slaughtering goblins en masse.

It's a great deal of fun, and we're looking for more to join our semi-regular group. So far we are
25 Enchanter
23 Shaman
26 Warrior

Our next goal is to tackle Dalnir.

I second this. If you were starting on blue, I think Shaman Epic prices are quite low right now, so it wouldn't be too hard to go straight to Epic for leveling.

I assume Shaman Epic prices on Green are much higher. I see less listings in the recent months on green, and none of them have prices.

So you won't have JBB or Epic while leveling if you go Iksar on green, unless you are already wealthy enough to buy Shaman Epic.

For those of you discussing iksars and plate armor, are you unaware that iksars can already wear a large assortment of Velious plate? The armor restriction was pretty much limited to the Kunark expansion. Go quest your Thurgadin armor and you'll have plate graphic on your iksar warrior or shadowknight. Tougher for a shaman, but items like phase spider carapace and crystal chitin armor are usable by them.

EQ armor often looks like spandex because it only swaps textures, no 3D model changes other than for helms. For whatever reason this issue is particularly noticeable on iksars.

Those are specifically Velious plate graphics though - Iksar have a *few* options for the classic plate graphic
