Or am I being sold more wolf tickets from the same Barbarian who orchestrated the horrendous P99 wiki?

TBH either way it's kind of bad timing. Some of us are trying to take MnM seriously. I think it would have been more epic if they don't do a huge announce about a new P99 server, but rather, just merge the servers one day unannounced, and a few months later open a fresh server, also unannounced. Imagine the fomo and hype.

Not related to Green 2.0 whatsoever and don't worry you'll have plenty of time taking MnM seriously just like Pantheon before it, and whatever else comes after, or doesn't come at all as it were.

This has nothing to do with a new server

At any rate, no one cares about whether people are focused on MnM. I doubt that would factor into a decision on when to launch a new server.

Just because P1999 has an agreement with DB does not mean DB cannot adjust the agreement. My thoughts are that the THJ lawsuit has resulted in one agreement for the entire EMU base. That means no servers beyond Velious and a cap on player numbers.

I could be wrong, again these are just my thoughts but considering this involves all of the EQEMU, it is more than just P1999 fixing things.

You are in fact wrong, EQEmu folks stated publicly that the new restrictions they are enforcing do now impact the P99 servers due to P99 having their own separate agreement with DB.

However, the 2 talk to each other (systems wise), and therefore the changes that EQEMU needs to make to their servers to enforce their new restrictions are likely requiring P99 to also make updates to their servers.

It appears both administrators picked a date and time window where all parties could be available to take all the servers down on both ends, make the needed adjustments, and bring them back on line together to avoid unintended issues or disruptions of service.

now impact

That should read "not impact"*

On trademark/game-asset use, if there’s a dispute about what you’re allowed to use, Daybreak gets the “final say” and can require you to stop using anything it decides is impermissible.

There's a rift between login server operators/teams that they're doing good opsec to keep quiet.

All Rogean said was that the IP address of the login server has changed. He mentioned he was working on it to tidy it up a while ago.
I dont think any secret squirrel stuff is going on.
Also, I am nothing to do with P99 or rogean so salts and grains.

And they can just move the servers to Russia, where DB can do nothing. This is what Ascension and Project Epoch did in response to Blizzard.

I feel zero allegiance to the company that is Darkpaw, and in fact I hate them for buying an IP they aren't capable of developing. I would much rather EQ belong to a company that can actually balance the product they already have, and develop new projects.

Darkpaw legit reminds me of the 20 year old blue haired Blizzrd devs who bluntly declare that they are the creators of WoW. Like kid, the people who created the game we loved quit working at Blizzard over a decade ago, and you were in diapers at the time.

Rogaen is cleaning up his 17 year old network layout and code that matches it. There have been a lot of server issues over the last several months, so this is an attempt to fix it and that's all.

but you would do that before a merge/new server that leads to increased traffic not after

Can you login to Dalaya through the p99 client?

Some servers are listed merely as a courtesy advertisement.

Not necessarily. At least not in the P99 context. An IP holder can prevent someone from using it's IP if they don't have a prior agreement with the person.

If they have a prior legal agreement, things get trickier. Things like promissory estoppel come into play. P99 has relied on Daybreak's waiver under the agreement, including by spending money on servers etc. They'd likely have a very solid estoppel argument. Wouldn't be surprised if they would win on that argument...unless they contractually agreed to waive any defenses like that in their agreement with Daybreak, I'd have to go back and read it.

Well... Have we consider the may just not want to do it?

P99 has been going for 15 years.

It's free work and a thankless task. Maybe their ambitions with doing P99 changed over a decade and a half.

I'm please I got to enjoy the challenge of the original EverQuest and take part in all the launches on Blue.

Folks want to speculate the legalities, the state of emu, game launches with an EQ feel...

Could just be that Rogean and Nilbog are done for now. And that's okay.

Doubt it. They have been making changes via patches recently that would only matter if they were going to launch a new server. I'm sure they want to do it. Having the time and energy is a different matter.
