It only cracks me up because when I see new players ask where to play, the same people who said blue was unplayable due to low pop will chime in to say to play on green because it’s so active even though the pop is lower than blues was two years ago when they stunted on blue players.

I disagree too. If you want to solo, blue is the way to go. If you are a new player who mostly wants to solo or afk level, items are also dramatically cheaper on blue and high $$$ like treats are almost always available. If you’re a hardcore player who enjoys trying to solo difficult content, blue is way better - regularly solo camps that are generally occupied by entire groups on green.

Just keeping it real. Not to mention the fact that eventually when there is a merge we will all be on the same server anyways, but by playing on blue you had a much easier time soloing and farming generational wealth, so you’ll naturally be ahead.

I would posit that the hardcore solo people probably aren't coming to the forums to ask what server to start on and by nature the people that are asking want interaction.

To your point green isn't exactly crowded so by your own analysis you can be a hardcore solo player on green more effective now than you could on blue a few years ago. As someone that spends most of their time solo I still prefer Green because I get more money for the stuff I farm, there is actually more than 1 viable guild on the server so there is still some level of competition for those that want it, and virtually all new folks coming to P99 are going there.

Really the only reason for blues existence at this point is not to penalize the people that invested a ton into that server prior to green existing. At current player counts we really only have 1 viable server.

I mean if you really wanna go off the deep end of literally 0 human interaction ever the entire time you play on P99 might as well go to red.

Almost hit 3K on velious launch.

And they almost have to merge especially if they launch a new server which all signs lead to. Green would be a ghost town and blue would be like red going down to 1 person in the mornings.

I just like talking about EQ and P99 because it's one of my favorite games and it's hard to find people who even know what it is in 2025.

I long for a new / fresh / more socially active P99 experience. Green launch was the most fun I've had on an online video game in a long time. I'm not even crazy about WoW, but the fact that I have a lot of friends on the game keeps me logging in every night. If it wasn't for them I would probably be on P99 doing extreme solo challenges with my Enchanter etc. because I actually enjoy playing P99 more than I enjoy playing WoW, but again, all my friends are on WoW :-\

Not worth picking up again. Evokers are actually a top class ATM, but almost every normal person has quit / just waiting for Midnight expansion / housing. In a way this is the most balanced version of the game I've ever played in PvP. There is no truly bad spec etc.

But the overall balance is terrible. Don't want to say too much though because my perspectives are from a high rating player, and I don't think the same would apply to normies, and don't feel its fair to dissuade them based off of crap they will likely never experience.

I do feel like I remember him feather falling or levitating at one point, but you're right.

As an author you can't have a story about ten (or something like that) main characters, where all but two (Raistlin and the "thief") are warriors ... and just have the wizard mowing everything down with spells constantly.

to this day i have no clue who jarlaxle is.... i read a lot of wulfgar and drizzt stuff, like i know who artemis entreri is, know who cadderleigh and danica are (i assume danica was the inspiration for eq monks but i really dunno, but they definitely wasnt celibate, i do know that lol). i always joke irl when i see someone with a pet squirrel that its percival, but of course no one has any clue what im talking about. still though, never come across jarlaxle, even though i knew a dark elf cleric on my server who was named that.

i actually think theres a strong chance i played on the same server as salvatore because i remember him getting in trouble for copy right for having a character named drizzt or something and then having verant (or was it soe?) back off after he called them on the support line.

It was such a let down all those years ago when it was announced that GoT was getting a TV show, of all the fantasy novels to that deserved a TV series it was DL :( I get it though, it's way too similar to LOTR, Fizban is basically Gandalf and even calls himself such in one of the Death Gate Cycle books.
