Tbh they should have been another shorty race. Imagine all of the lil lizards running around like crazed geckos or anoles. With big ol twohanders.

I always thought it was wild they can't be rogues. They seem like the most rogue-like race. Hell even in Field of Bone I be regularly getting backstabbed and dying by Iksar Bandits and Marauders.
I would be curious to hear what the reasoning was from the original developers, or if they just made a mistake by not allowing the race/class combo. Maybe Rogues with Regen would have been too dang OP. Maybe they didn't want Iksars to be able to negate being KOS everywhere via Rogue Masks. I really don't know.

Cabilis definitely had the real estate to house a rogues guild, I think they'd have been naturals.

Their society is all about order and discipline and collective unity, they aren't roguely at all.

All those rogue-class iksar NPCs running around say otherwise.
Is there any *other* case in-game of a playable race having access to classes that player characters cannot create themselves? Are there any dark elf bards? Halfling rangers? Human shamans? Curious what exceptions might be out there; certainly I can't remember every last NPC myself.
As short as development cycles were, I would not be shocked if iksar rogues were dropped for no reason beyond insufficient time to flesh out their questing and such. Even the available options were not fully completed in that respect. Verant had a long and undistinguished history of not finishing expansion X before moving on to expansion Y.

In freeport there is a Barbarian Warrior of Innoruuk too... okay it is a r/c/d combo that players can't be but I thought a worthy mention.
