tbh, i always thought the huge variance idea was a good one. I can't remember who it was, but back when there was that big guild meeting I remember someone brought up having it so mobs windows opened like 30 minutes after they were killed - so basically anything could spawn at any time.. however, it should average out to about 1 mob per week (or 3 days for trak/draco/maestro).

Who would seriously want the variance to be BIGGER than it already is? It's already draining enough to sit on a tracker for 96 hours a week just for a chance at pixels.

It would make me happier if every mob spawned at once. Maybe this isn't more meritocratic, but it might ease up really contested spawns if it meant that guilds had a chance of losing out on other mobs.

I know I shouldn't get involved but I really don't understand why both guilds don't just set up a rotation. The terms of the rotation could be like this: every trak spawn alternates but if one of the two guilds wipes, then the other guild gets a turn at the boss. Also, if a guild wipes the next spawn doesn't become theirs - this way the better guild gets more trak spawns.

One obvious benefit of this is that members of both guilds waste less time. Since each guild probably gets about half of the trak spawns, there's no point in poopsocking the boss and making their members lose out on their precious time just to achieve the same result. Under a rotation the only time that would be spent would be the time tracking Trak, and the time mobilizing to him. This is clearly superior to sitting in Trak's lair and killing juggs/reets for 3 days.

A rotation would also mean more competition because Trak would be freed up to other guilds. Currently it's just a massive waste of time for other guilds to attempt to mobilize for Trak because TR and TMO are already in force in Trak's lair. Realistically TR and TMO would probably still get most of the kills, but this still provides much more meaningful competition than the status quo where both guilds just compete to see who presses harm touch first. The kind of competition you'd most likely see would favor guilds that mobilize better, which we can probably agree is better than the alternative.

So why not set up a rotation? Why make members of both your guilds suffer for nothing?

Yes we would suffer more because we don't have as many VP keys as TR does.

To say we should have a 4-5 guild rotation is outrageous, if a guild were to ever be added to this hypothetical rotation they would need to prove they can beat the competition to the target and kill it.

Also the comment about BDA or someone coming and getting FTE while others kill Trak... for fucks sake I hope the next Trak raids aren't as pathetic as the last one. Having both guilds sitting on top of Trak was so stupid. At least in the past it was a race to get your force ready and engage, which any other guild than TR or TMO has proven they can't accomplish.

I think it's funny that this whole thing really escalated because of circumstances inherent to what is essentially the underdog guild.

We all started parking at the ledge around Trak's window a long time ago. I think that much is a given these days. As far as I'm concerned, this is poopsocking. Who is to blame for making it this competitive? I don't know, but it doesn't really matter. That much probably isn't going to ever change.

What I'm wondering is why the hell TR has to cry so hard over us clearing some Juggs. Your average TR member has more levels, better gear, and more money than your average TMO member; this is just a fact. We have plenty of people who are thrilled to get in on the experience gained clearing these mobs; some of our members still need levels. We have plenty of people who are thrilled to help their guildies get some experience, Trak window or not. We need some high end spells still. We need SCDs and BGDEs and all that good stuff. So why the fuck are you freaking out and only then claiming poopsock when we're just trying to further our guild in that sense? A clear lair is probably of benefit to you more since we can eat a larger train if the train-away goes awry. We officers never insisted that people stay and clear the Trak lair at all hours - PEOPLE JUST CHOSE TO DO SO SOMETIMES. It was of their own volition. People want levels and spells and gear and Juggs/Reets, with the support of most of the guild logged out at the ledge, is a fucking great place to do this. And yeah, some of it probably boils down to our members wanting to engage Trakanon first and being willing to spend a little more time in his lair as a result, but really, having an extra dozen people there doesn't really make a difference. Each guild still needs to have X people there of the right classes before an engagement can proceed. The simple fact of the matter is that lately TR has not been able to mobilize enough of the right people quickly enough.

TR is escalating the bullshit in Trakanon's lair (and the forums) in an effort to turn things into a huge ridiculous circus so that they can press for yet another rule change that benefits them.

I personally like FTE; it is fair and it makes things easy for the GMs. The 15man rule was absurd not just because of the finagling involved, but because of the amount of GM effort required in reviewing proof of fifteen. If TR is so fucking concerned with having to sit on Trakanon's spawn, maybe they should not park a fuckton of people right on his god damn spawn this time. Or maybe their leadership should cordially approach ours about deescalating the situation. I refuse to believe for even one second that TR is truly behind any sort of proposed rotation; this is just an effort to add to the existing absurdity.

Most people are probably fine but there's a few of you (on both sides) who need to learn to both win AND lose with a little grace and dignity. I love how for a while TR tried to act like no group of people other than them could handle these encounters. It's nothing tricky - levels and resists. I bet if you gave Taken two weeks to collect PR gear they could kill Trakanon easy. It's not fucking rocket science. I am a proponent of always doing things as efficiently and effectively as possible, but let's be honest here: it is not fucking difficult to learn what you need to do in a single situation and do it.

I think it's funny that this whole thing really escalated because of circumstances inherent to what is essentially the underdog guild.

ROFL... I doubt we're interested in wasting our lives away poopsocking for 3 days just to have a shot at Trak. My guild in Live completely bypassed VP and had no problems in Velious. In fact, the longer TMO/TR does the poopsock stare-down in Trak's lair with each other, neither willing to flinch first and leave to go after something else, it just might open up some more chances for us to nail VS, Talendor, Gorenaire, Sev, Fay, Inny, and CT. ;)

You know, I would be interested to see if the drawn out timeline and variance has about equalized the expected results of a live server going through multiple patches/crashes. I would think it would be lower but marginally so. With the way the server works now I can't imagine it not being fairly accurate.

I mean, having managed the DKP and been an officer of Dark Ascension, I can comfortably say that most people saw their first piece of raid boss encounter loot in a reasonable amount of time. It's not like there are 500 people attending raids. Much less 100. And then divide that by the number of classes, and you have a handful of raids until you DO get loot.
