assuming mods could be made for p99 that were desired by the team that runs dev here as well as the playerbase. what kind of QoL would spruce up this place?
trying to find the right contact here to connect about possible future QoL for this server

Better UI since folks cheat anyways with log readers for maps, spell timers, etc. Just make it easy for those not wiling/able to figure out the technical steps needed to circumvent the UI restrictions.

Since this is a timelocked classic project I interpret enhancements as "more classic" not better QoL compared to modern game releases.
1. Account restrictions - 1 account per IP address and accounts are IP Linked to prevent VPN circumvention. Make mains main again! No more unclassic bot armies, no more unclassic account sharing, no more unclassic make a different account for every character. Mirrors the limitations that existed in 1999 with having to pay monthly for your account.
2. Unroot dragons - Restore ToV to its classic glory! Choo Choo, let the trains begin! Combined with #1 we will actually see raids fighting through to the content not skipping all the "trash" with 18 coth bots parked next to each named mob in the game. We will see this meta become viable again as train metas are severly handicapped in the amount of resources they have compared to current P99 game state.
3. Server Lifetimes - When the classic timeline hits shadows of luclin release, the existing server becomes merged with any older servers that have reached the same, and a new server kicks off from day 1 EQ release so you always have 1 fresh server on a normal classic progression and 1 aged server (that mirrors green/blue today) where all of the best characters live on forever. Alternately server merge and restart could be linked to the sleeper being awoken. Would be cool as hell to see legacy guilds on the aged server forming guilds on the progression server and the amount of energy spent gate keeping the awakening of the sleeper so they can farm more warder loot to be migrated to the locked aged server once that progression meets its end and is merged.
4. Classic casters - Overhaul channeling and resist profiles so spells and casting works like it did in 1999. This seems to be the biggest project the current devs are focused on and one of the last major missing pieces to having a true reproduction of Everquest as it played 1999-2001.
To me these are the big 4 and if the devs executed on these 4 things it would take P99 into a whole new world of classic reproduction EQ.
And for one last thought that made me chuckle, everytime a new server is released completely wipe the wiki, take away some of the game genie aspect to playing P99 in 2025. There will still be a lot more knowledge out there than existed in 1999 but it would bring us closer to that feel of a community collaborating and sharing knowledge to navigate Norrath.

I started in 2000 and I had an EQ Atlas binder.
Wiki is not classic but allakhazam was. I don't think you can wipe the knowledge of a game that's been online for 25+ years anyway, a lot of players know all that stuff by heart at this point and no one is forcing you to use the wiki if you don't want to.

They are broken compared to classic and the purpose of P99 is to be a recreation of classic. And useless outside of being a raid coth bot and a particular raid scenario is not as intended by Brad McQuaid himself.

But seriously, some easier way to set the resolution would be nice. For example, the correct resolution in this game is 4:3 (widescreen resolutions are just cropped so you're losing vertical POV) but you have to set that up manually. Moreover, not being able to share stuff between laptop and desktop (due to smaller screen size making fonts unreadable) means I have to muck with ini's in several places.

stamina required for melee
abilities for melee, taunt working 100% of the time for most common enemies
rogue poisons being cheaper and 28 min buffs instead of one shot deals
pal/sk getting block on top of dodge/parry/riposte
rangers getting access to huge 20+ slot container quivers through class only quests, arrows stackable to 100
rangers getting more DoTs sooner. drones at 22, crud at 39. immolate at 30, etc. or their own line such as poisoned arrows. use rogues poisons old one-shot coding for this
bandage while sitting. 70% hp base, able to work way up to 100% through skill or levels. as well as more types of bandages. more healing, able to cure minor annoyances, or even a heal over time
other classes getting their forms of mana regen:
priest only (cleric, druid, shaman) getting their own self armor spells with mana regen
mages armor spells adding 1 per tier
or maybe give mages the ability to summon items for mana regen, breezy orb, bottle of clarity, etc
wizards getting breeze at like 29, clarity at 49, clarity 2 at 55ish
wizards harvest being a short cast, no stun, but mana over time
or maybe change the way meditation works. +1 mana per tick for every 12 points is brutal when 9 points nevermind im not doing the math
wizards getting -resists/lures on all their spells. like -10cr on their level 1 nuke, -100cr on ice comet, etc
necromancer(or all class) DoTs casting almost instantly but have a 10 second cooldown
druids(and maybe shaman) getting access to regen abilities sooner and have them much cheaper casting, can also add regen to the skin line +1 per tier
shaman get compressed buffs. bear = hp/str/sta, cat = agi/dex/cha, wolf = movement speed, maybe a small disease dd
change up healing a bit
druids get strong heals over time with a short duration that stacks with their other regen
shaman get long heals over time but not much power
clerics get a rune over time instead of heals over time. like x shielding every y seconds for z duration
all without losing the generic healing lines (minor, lesser, etc)
change up all summonable gear
mages/necros/priests can summon more pet weapons with various dd elements. mages summoning fire/ice dd swords/maces, necros summoning poison/disease dd daggers/swords, cleric/pal undead dd hammer, druid summoned dd sword
pet armor that starts as cloth and goes up to plate at 49. ac/hp/resists. +2 resist all does not sound like much for cloth but there are like 16 equipment slots. +6 resist all per piece for the plate tier would help pets out in fights
necros can get their decayed armor line, wont be as strong as mages but still there
Illusion: Mummy.
Effect: Heal Over Time.
Effect: -ve Charisma.
Effect: slow movement.

After being on Quarm, I want Zeal to work here as well, such simple changes, such amazing ways to make the game better without altering anything significant
issue is zeal is built for the TAKP client and not the titanium client so it wouldn't work at all here

I see this problem with all kinds of remakes and remasters and emulated experiences.
People do not understand that by "fixing" design decisions of old games you end up with something different. Many of the lows in a game build its highs and if removed tend to make for a bland experience. This line of game design in modern games is also why many of us don't enjoy them as much. Yet the constant nagging is always there and it's why we saw Diablo 2 Ressurected go from a promised remaster to a pretty bland remake where they buffed "bad builds" or how World of Warcraft Classic got "Season of Discovery" which was utter dogshit. That's not to say that some things can't be changed but there's merit to the idea behind "no changes".
My main gripes with P99 is just the client and lack of support and communication from the devs. A modern and stable client, devs who communicate what's in the pipeline (if anything at all) and a new fresh or merge whenever it's due would be nice.

Yeah, 2 years ago, before coming to p99 I dusted off my old EQ account and started a 3 box. There were sooooo many QOL changes that were nice but in the end it just wasn't the same game at all, hence why I came to p99. I came to the same conclusion. I'm by no means a purist but people don't realize a lot of the bullshit about this game is what makes it great in the end. Like, dying and respawning with your gear is nice but the prospect of having to go to the bottom of a dungeon naked for corpse retrieval keeps your arrogance in check (sometimes). Not having a POK portal in every zone makes you discover the world and feel how big it is even though long runs can be annoying or god forbid you have to change continent. This also kills all the interactions you may have had with people who offer ports.
We could go on forever but yeah, be careful what you wish for.

Foraging: Fruits and Berries merged into one item, Roots changed to Roots and Tubers. most zones you forage:
Pod of water, fruits and berries, roots and tubers, rabbit meat, vegetables
expand baking and brewing
all of the listed gives a home made stew, 1yield, +2 all stats, banquet meal
pod of water + fruits of berries = 2-5 yield, +2 all resists, refreshing drink
pod of water + roots and tubers, rabbit meat

There are plenty of really easy QOL changes they could make:
IP Exemption for one account of level 1 toon for an EC trader
Some sort of single slot shared bank space with currency
NPC pathing update
Consider adding back QOL things removed from the client that now everyone uses log readers for like maps, buff timers, etc.
More slots for hotkeys
Very basic AA's: run speed, stats, and resists
Fix locked accounts when crashing upon login, especially when going to character select screen or remove LD toons from the game faster
Ability to change coins on your toon
Dropping coin
Reverting recharge costs
Reverting lifetap nerf
Removing added cast times to items
Making crafting easier
Respawn warders annually
Removing aoe cap in specific zones
Adding npcs/quests to fix faction like Siren's Grotto or Velks
Ability to move toons between accounts like TAKP
Remember, this is a newer client that they have massively stripped down. It originally had maps, a compass, shared bank slots, a targeting ring, etc.

hmm, i guess faction, merging some factions, renaming some of them to be more clear, more home city quests so people can work or repair faction
now introduce raid loot to city/faction leaders and bump up their difficulty
offtankable adds
maybe have healer NPCs spawn really high up so only ranged dps can get to them, perma root them
some of the caster leaders can teleport around a room to certain locations to continue to attack
maybe some shit like grobb summoning an idol of terror that needs to be tanked but eventually puts fear on the tank and wiping agro and needs another tank

Fix taunt and bash to work as intentioned for tanks to take and keep aggro instead of the broken implementations live suffered from and p99 is cursed with the legacy of.
I.e taunt should work on white/yellow and bash should generate aggro similar to spell stuns.

I think it was agreed with IP holder that p99 can not upgrade to Luclin or PoP. Maybe it was because of the Agnarr server, but that server is dead now. Maybe p99 guys can ask just for Luclin. For sure will bring more folk back and druids and wizards still porting on luclin ...spires take time anyway ..like the boats lol ..
