Alright, when I camp out I crash, not all the time, but most of the time
I havnt played for a year, and then it was rarely, before then I played quite a bit from 2019 to 2021, i have had these crashes before but not as frequent
My old laptop was a hunk of junk, but no problems on it, got a new one for Christmas, all other games, just fine, today I decided to hop back on And i am having quite a bit of difficulty
Okay when camping, its loading and screen goes black, for about 2-3 seconds and i know the crash is going to happen again.
Then a big white bo that says everquest has detected that your client have crashed
It is often possible to determine where and why the crash occured Rest of message is if i want to send a click of a yes on box to developer to see what the problem is If i hit no box stays so i have to click yes
Then i get message, windows application error , the instructioin at, long 000 and letters reference memory and code, says the memor could not be read, click okay to terminate program.
Id so love to play again, the nostalgia of classic

The wiki's Tech Support page has a section on "Crashing When Zoning or Camping (https://wiki.project1999.com/Tech_Support#Game_Crashing_When_Zoning_or_Camping)" that might help.

something not listed in the above guide (at least on cursory glance) is the compatibility mode option.
right click the shortcut > properties > compatibility
Choose run this in compatibility mode and choose windows XP (service pack 2)
fixed 99% of my crashes on zone / log

It is there, you just missed it:
5.2 Game Crashing When Zoning or Camping
5.2.1 Windows-Specific
5.2.1.1 Administrator and/or Compatibility Mode
5.2.1.1.1 Compatibility Mode
But yes, compatibility mode has helped a lot of people!

I had the same issue several years ago, right clicking on the launcher, selecting properties , then compatibility, and changing to Windows XP service pack 3 , fixed it.

I just wanted to add to this, while the Compatibility Mode can be the problem. I was still experiencing crashes on logout even with setting it to the right mode. But years ago someone in my guild told me to select the option to have no loading art when zoning or logging. Im not on right now so cant tell you what exact option to look for, but its easy to find. But theres a option to disable the loading art and once I did that I havent crashed in years.

Could it be "LoadScreenMode=0" in eqclient.ini?

Its possible but theres an actual in-game option to disable it when you bring up the Options screen too.

I remember reading that fix too on the forums but after searching for a while I never found it. Doesn't mean it isn't there but if it is, it's buried deep I guess. Loramin's way seems the easiest but honestly I stopped looking since compatibility mode ended up being the only fix that worked (I tried like a dozen other fixes including full reinstall).

I went into my Nvidia app and set everquests Max FPS to 90. That fixed crashing while camping for me

I can't remember what it's called but the thing you can download where it changes the server list to only show the three p99 servers also nearly fixed my crashing while camping issue. Used to crash on 80% of camps, and now it's more like 5%.
Not sure how or why it had that effect, might depend on your specific hardware\OS etc.
