I never really use the forums but this past week has me rather amused. A person in castle w/ the name Shanaynai gets insta kicked for a name… in a game. What I find even funnier is that this person was in castle for probably a year or more. Idk them really at all, but I’ve seen the name in guildchat at times. This person did not cuss, didn’t even really do anything but chat in guild and 2 of castle leadership get all in their victimization feelings claiming racism. Meanwhile on the UN, other castle leadership members can say/message - basic white b*tches- without a blink of the eye. Rather odd lol. What say you, is a simple name in a game … racist? Or are the individuals claiming racism out of the blue actually showing their own racism by insinuating a name that was in the guild for a year + probably, is suddenly racist? /chuckles @ profession victims trying their best to find a reason to be offended.

Can someone explain what actually happened for those of us who are nosy?

I'm in a Discord server with a bunch of alt right people who frequently drop slurs and say hateful things. It doesn't phase me. I still get confused when normies join the server and actually get upset because of words on a screen.

At the same time I have common sense though. I had to warn a friend the other night that if he didn't stop calling people slurs on VC on Overwatch that the bots would auto-detect and ban him. And then a couple of months ago in my own P99 guild they had to kick someone out because he wouldn't stop dropping the N-word.

They didn't auto-kick him though, and tried to reason with him. The word itself doesn't really bother me, but I understand that it's going to get you kicked out of most WoW guilds and P99 guilds in 2024, so it's almost common sense just to not do it.

The guy they kicked out over it though really annoyed me because he kept talking about how we're all too pussy to type that word, but when he told him to type it in OOC in EC Tunnel, he wouldn't do it, because he knew better. Like it's obvious the dude knows how to self-censor to avoid negative consequences. Just seems like common sense.

I personally have always been of the belief that comedy is one of the last forms of free expression in the world and I don’t think any type of joke about any subject should be off limits. I think that humans have been using sometimes very dark humor as a way of de-stressing/coping and analyzing the culture around them, since forever

But it’s all about reading the room and understanding the medium. People at a comedy shows generally know what’s coming (especially if they know the comedian’s style) and signed up for it…even are paying for it

Some warm-body pressing his little 1 or 2 buttons on an EQ raid pretending his in-game contribution actually matters while cracking jokes….isn’t a comedian, and isn’t at a comedy venue. Fitness is indeed the cure to most of life’s ills I agree. It has dug me out of many a dark dark place as well in the past. I also used to be fat, 260lbs obese before I transferred my hyper-focused/competitive personality towards fitness. I never really use the forums but this past week has me rather amused. A person in castle w/ the name Shanaynai gets insta kicked for a name… in a game. What I find even funnier is that this person was in castle for probably a year or more. Idk them really at all, but I’ve seen the name in guildchat at times. This person did not cuss, didn’t even really do anything but chat in guild and 2 of castle leadership get all in their victimization feelings claiming racism. Meanwhile on the UN, other castle leadership members can say/message - basic white b*tches- without a blink of the eye. Rather odd lol. What say you, is a simple name in a game … racist? Or are the individuals claiming racism out of the blue actually showing their own racism by insinuating a name that was in the guild for a year + probably, is suddenly racist? /chuckles @ profession victims trying their best to find a reason to be offended.

Castle has always been a weird guild. This is what happens when you recruit a million people with no real vetting process. I've seen really nice Castle members, and I've seen Castle members who have been some of the worst griefers I've run into. IIRC someone posted footage of a Castle duo on Green a couple years back blatantly AFK camping (Mage pet killing SK guards while the Mage sat there AFK and a Bard sat AFK by the SK zone line) and potentially boxing (the characters had the same surname with first names that went with it)...Castle's leadership responded that they had "asked the people if they were boxing and/or AFK camping and they said no" so that was that.

There's always been a bit of hypocrisy and rules for thee not for me there.

You don't see an issue with having multiple guilds on the encounter logs of multiple FTEs at the same time? One guild isn't allowed to have multiple FTEs at the same time and I think its generally expected by both players and CSR that when guilds team up that they are treated as one entity. If Castle is engaged on a mob and Safe Space tagged toons are on that encounter log I think the overwhleming majority of people would agree that counts as an FTE for both CA/SS and they are treated as one raiding entity as they chose to combine resources.

Furthermore there are paremeters set for engages to make things an even playing field so for example should a team of guilds be allowed to have 4 coth mages when a single guild is only allowed to have 2 mages on a coth race meta? And then they ultimately team up having doubled their chances of getting the FTE by pretending they are not one raiding entity?

Take it out further and it incentivizes every successfull guild of splitting their tag into multiple smaller entities so each smaller entity can get draft picks and FTEs and then they just combine raid forces to kill the mobs or share resources to double the amount of content they consume. With the umbrella Castle already has that means that Castle, Safe Space, Ancient Blood, and whatever 3 other guilds I can't even name off the top of my head can now have 6 FTEs simultaneously? Even though its really all the same pool of resources and players kill the mobs.

The problem is that "if you can get away with it, you should do it" is the meta for green raiding. So this is mostly a PSA, right? What might be called second degree snitching where I'm from. I gotta say I'm pro-advantage when it comes to underdogs, but yeah.. It's not the right way. Maybe when there are twice as many people ready willing and able to do what you want to do, you just make the effort to value their existence and maybe negotiate instead instead of trying to dominate them...

Are you talking about FTEs across zones or are you talking about using bots from multiple guilds to get FTE on a specific target? The latter is permitted, the former my understanding is that it's generally frowned upon so if you have an issue raise it with the staff.

I think it hit us a lot harder than GG/K, simply because Quarm probably appeals a lot more to the non-competitive/sweaty folks who were more likely to be in Castle. GG still rocking 100+ for Vulak a fair amount.
