I have been grinding faction in the warrens to raise heretic faction, but it wont get any higher than apprehensive. Is there some sort of faction cap?

There may be a hard limit due to your Deity. I am assuming your Paladin worships a 'Good' deity?

Thanks but I had already looked over that page before posting and it doesnt say anything about limits for certain classes or deities etc.

Yeah there might be, but no one seems to know.

I believe race, deity and class adjustments go on top of the -2000 -> 2000 point faction scale, so you cap out at around +2000 from the amount you can earn and then it gets adjusted from there.

Do you get "your faction cannot possibly get any better" messages?

Apprehensive just takes a long time. When you get the message your faction cannot get any better is when you should be Ally.

there is nothing about that more than rumor and whisper on the wind

you just started out near max scowling with heretics

on that scale you can see apprehensive is one of the larger faction tiers to grind through

pull big trains of the highest lvl mobs you can, then turn around and wield a 2h for the ripostes

It still says its getting better. let me explain why I think there is an issue. Last night I joined a faction group with a lvl 60 bard pulling and another person who was also at apprehensive when we started. A dark elf wizard. They were using aoe to get hits and I was using heal on the bard to get hits. We were all grouped and the bard was doing most of the damage to kill them off. When the group ended, the other player was at amiable and I was still apprehensive. As a favor the bard continued pulling a couple more loads of gnolls for me, after which I was still apprehensive. This seems very suspect to me that there is something going on...

No sooner than I say this, I started up killing again and when I checked it is now indifferent... it is still suspect though. Why did it take me so much longer than the other person...

There's a potential of 400 kill difference in the apprehensive range. It's possible when you started this faction group with the other person that the other person started closer to indifferent faction than you did.

faction/xp moving so slow that you think the game is broken, is indeed classic

Once you get amiable you can get the key to the city and start messing with the guards :)

My Tunare Druid is amiable with the Heretics, it takes a long fucking time though. This was with countless hours of helping PL in the warrens too, so I was getting faction hits at a much higher pace than someone just leveling there with no help. Keep grinding and youll get there soon enough.

As others noted, the likely reason is the Dark Elf was close to amiable and you were not. Each of these mobs is likely only a +1 faction increase. If you were at the start of apprehensive, you would need 400 to get to indifferent.

^This. The majority of the mobs in the zone are +1 faction hits to heritics, that means from max KOS to max ally you would have to kill 4000 mobs.

Most people look for mobs that give the largest faction hits, followed by volume/concentration of mobs to employ efficient fractioning strategies. If you exclusive killed mobs that gave a +10 faction hit you would only need to kill 400 or +100 faction hits you would only need to kill 40 for example.

Kael faction pulls are a great example. Someone figured out the most efficient way to obtain CoV faction is to pull a group of 10 mobs that each give +25 faction. So every 30 minutes when they respawn you can get a +250 faction boost so in 16 pulls or less you can go from kos to max ally which can be accomplished in 8 hours mostly of AFK time between respawns.

Doing some quick digging it looks like Erudin would be the ideal place to kill for Heritics faction, tons of mobs in there give it and there's some that are show +45 hit per kill according to the wiki

Kinda hard on your Erudin faction tho :D

Despite being slow, the Warrens gives only positive faction hits, which is why its nice.

Yeah if you don't need the Erudin faction and have the ability to kill there this is absolutely the answer. That's what I did on an Iksar when it was level appropriate, just go kill guards there (I think they're all level 30) and you will have the faction in no time.

The only downside is if you were trying to level off the lower level Paineel guards you miss out on that, but IMO there are so many better leveling spots till the mid-30s that this isn't really a problem.
