When hunting outside I usually hit the switch view button to 3rd party and give the camera a spin to make sure no mobs are creeping up on my ass
When in first person I do an arrow key 360 spin when doing long casts. Sort of dumb from an immersion/RP perspective. Spell casters in fantasy books aren’t spinning in circles while casting their spells. But they should be, if they cared about protecting their bony withered ass from back attacks

On my ‘Quarm warm up toon’ i bound - and = to 1st and 3rd person cameras - found that to be a great way to switch between views instead of cycling though them. Doesn’t work on Quarm though.

There were challenges like that before the official servers. I think it was called like “console view” and it was 3rd person but zoomed way in
Constantly having mobs you can’t see path into you sounds like a PITA
But that wasn’t nearly as bad as the challenges got. Some were “warrior with no armor”, “1 hp challenge” (I think only doable on mage, not sure if anyone got to 60 with it. You’d have to level by getting exploration exp only up to a certain point), crazy shit like that

It's not that bad. I've pulled. Healed. Split. CC'd Lower guk as a cleric and paladin in first person. Solb and all of sola. Skyshrine. And ToFS. And chunks of karnors and CoM. Befallen and Najena.
All never leaving 1st person. Before I even knew how to utilize the other cameras.

its hard to strafe/mouse look in 3rd so i joust in 1st dont be dumb :)
**** I will conceeede one thing about QUARM
it sucks to see the inside of ur mouth and eyes and face in 1st person when u melee so i do spend a lot of time tapping the Z key
I utilize all views I am not dependent on 3rd person like a zmoothiebrain

I love 3rd person for travelling and seeing around corners, but during combat I often accidentally target myself just by clicking too near my hitbox or whatever. Normally in 1st person you can't mouse-click-target yourself unless you click your name in the little hp window. In 3rd person it's very easy to do by accident. And tab targeting takes too long if there's a bunch of shit around.

When I make games I almost always pick the eq style camera system.
When i take selfies it's always just South Karana KFC or the spires of Splitpaw...

Nah, I played back in 2000 in 3rd person. Put myself through grad school playing. Back when Wu's trance stick would sell on Ebay for 100 bucks.

I have a crazy Wu Stick story. Back in the day Kunark hadn't been out long and my Mage had been logged out in City Of Mist. I log in and see a dead ghost on ground. I waited for the timer so I could loot it and before my eyes I couldn't believe it was a WU STICK!! I had killed so many mobs and never saw one drop.
