First step to turning off broadcast messaging is to remove the stick from your ass.

Filter only system messages to it.
Move the window off screen or minimize it.

There was like 6 just yesterday; the broadcast channel being used to comminucate with raiding guilds. To anybody that's not part of that raid it's dumb and makes no sense. Those messages are sent to every zone and you can't ignore them.
