I I was wondering would it be against the rules to have a 2nd account so you can sometimes buff your main but not play together sort of thing? then just log out or possibly just afk one character for xp?

You may have multiple separate accounts, but you may only log a single account character on at a time. You may not "2 box" ever. Using an IP exemption to 2 box, using a cell phone connection + standard internet, or any iteration of this, all will get your accounts and IP addresses banned with no leniency. The GMs look for actions which seem like 2 boxing and have specific ways to test for it. It's also common for suspicious activity to be reported by the community who is avidly against it.

so you can sometimes buff your main but not play together sort of thing? --- This is BANABLE

or possibly just afk one character for xp? --- This is BANABLE

For a buff bot, there's no rule against having friends log in your other characters for a few mins
You can even have someone login and afk while you XP on one of them
You just can't do this all yourself.

You really should only ever have 1 char per account.

Just in case.

If you have more than 1 character per account and a character needs a rez, just remember that timer ticks down as long as that account is logged into the game.

For that reason among others its no bad thing to set up a new one for each character you make :)

Also, given how it currently works you can ask a friend to log onto your account, e.g. someone could res you using your cleric alt.

This is the truth. Benefits Rez timers, /q to login other accounts , and letting trusted friends use accounts.

I know you're a troll since I've seen lots of your posts, but no joke, the amount of time you'd had to play to do what you brag about is easily one of the saddest investments in any game I've ever heard of. I'm not trying to belittle your shut-in lifestyle or anything since you have to be physically disabled or something else that forces you to stay inside all day every day, but goodness gracious I wouldn't tell anyone about it.

If that is your clever excuse to multi-box than, yes it will be a problem. If you are actually playing with your son all the time, not sometimes then multiboxing other times; then you will have no issues as long as you follow the IP exemption process.

In other words, you know how every time you log in, it says don't multibox? That isn't like a cryptic haiku, it actually means don't do it.

If you want to multibox go to one of the multitudes of other servers that allow it.

If you are part of a hard-core raiding guild or you are playing on Red99, apparently boxing is allowed, but for the rest of us, it's a bannable offense.

You just have to request an IP exemption and make sure your 7-year-old knows how to type basic chat and knows how to run figure 8s around things because GMs will definitely test you at some point and if you fail the test, you get banned, and they won't give a shit if you try to argue it, even if your 7-year-old only has 1 arm or is autistic or terminally ill, etc. etc. Once they ban you for boxing, there's never coming back from that.
