I had a charmed pet. I went to hand it a piece of -MR gear (rusty shoulders). As I was clicking trade, charm broke

I checked my bags as I was re-charming the mob, item not there. I checked the ground, not there

After I killed the charmed mob, I checked it’s body, item not there

Can I get these back through like some kind of a ticket? I would hate to have this have to go to small claims court

You can petition, but petitions generally take a while. The staff is volunteer. It's probably not worth petitioning for an item that inexpensive. That is bad luck, sorry about that.

The channeling mechanics make charming easy mode on P99: you should be grateful the charmed mobs don't start stealing other gear from you, just to balance things out ;)

Nah just a regular one. And I’ve screwed up multiple times playing while stoned before and tried to hand a mezzed mob that I forgot to charm -MR gear and luckily the game wouldn’t allow it

Now I dunno if that’s just because the mob is mezzed, I’ve never actually tried handing a hostile con mob that’s not mezzed gear…although I’m assuming it still won’t work

But because it was a pet then stopped being a pet as I clicked trade, it chomped the item

As others have said though, luckily just a 100pp loss

AFAIK you can’t hand anything to an NPC actively engaged. This means a pet that is attacking or a mob that is aggro’d (rooted/mezzed/fighting etc). Is why you can’t hand something to a mezzed mob.

No Idea what you mean by that. Pretty sure the channeling mechanics are only a lil OP at low levels. High levels are pretty accurate to classic mechanics.
