We are starting a hardcore Everquest league (death = delete), on project 1999. If anyone is interested, join the discord https://discord.gg/3YvtK59y and check it out!

Saturday, June 24th, 2023 is the expected start date.

Death = Delete
If your character dies, for any reason other than intentional griefing or a verified disconnect. It's permanently dead. No resurrecting, no respawning.

Only group and trade with other hardcore players
Do not group with non hardcore players for any reason.

No boosting/outside help
You can not receive items, money, buffs, or any kind of assistance from players who are NOT hardcore.

Loot only what you or your party kills
You can not loot anything that was killed by other parties, even if they leave it behind.

Only purchase default vendor items
You can not purchase anything from vendors sold by other players. You may only purchase items the NPC's sell on their own.

Cool idea, although I imagine you don't plan on raiding at all?

Most raids, even when they go very well, involve at least a few deaths. If you crazy mofos can manage to pull it off I'll definitely be rooting for you though.

Looks like in the rules there is a completion for DT on raid mobs as an exception, but no completion = no bueno!

Man this is an idea I absolutely do not understand. I realize there’s tons of people who enjoy this both on WoW and P1999, but I don’t get it. Sounds awful.

Ah, but that is what makes Everquest so interesting for most, if not all of us. The game is not linear, there's not only one way to play it, and players can choose to be social or not, as is their preference. 95% chance that's why all of us keep playing and / or keep coming back.

Been playing my own version of "hardcore" mode as far back as Asteroids, and I find that for myself, even "awful" can be entertaining.
