Bugged Damage On Titans Fist

I got this on my cleric. Pre lvl 20 it hit for 24 damage max.(Shouldnt it be 28? Other toons ive had with big weapons pre 20 would cap at 28) Post lvl 20 it hits for 40 damage max, these numbers are straight up damage, not counting any bonuses for strength.

Based on the weapon stats I should be seeing 44 damage per hit max. Other weapons I use are doing the damage expected of them. I can only conclude that this weapon [Titans fist] has something wrong with it.

A typical combat log for me using this weapon currently will go something like... 40, 36, 40, 8, 32, 40, 40, 40, and so on. I never see 44,44,44... ever, which is what I should be seeing especially if Im beating up greens.

Were the other toons hybrid / pure melee?

I forget the patch, but priest / casters are on a separate damage table, where their max hit on any weapon is capped (including rod of annhiliation)

Most likely what is happening.

So does this damage increase as I get higher or is this weapon forever stuck at 40.

that is the post explaining things in the patch that made the caps real. So if you are a cleric post 20 it is treating your 22/36 weapon as a 20/36 weapon. Even if you found a 250/36 weapon it would be 20/36 damage calc.

At level 30 you'll do the 'normal' damage with it.

so if I'm reading this code right the max dmg on any weapon classes can use by level are:
Level <10
Caster - 6
Priest - 9
All Else -10

Level 10-19
Caster - 10
Priest - 12
All Else -14

Level 20-29
Caster - 12
Priest - 20
All Else -30

Level 30-39
Caster - 18
Priest - 26
All Else -60

Level 40+
Caster - 40
