Wiki shows Walnan as a lvl 47 mob. I have camped her for hours and seen only a slight movement in my exp bar at lvl 56.

In GD recently doing frost giant elites....max lvl 45 and over the same period of time, my exp bar can be seen to move. BB has a higher listed ZEM value than GD does, so doesn't make sense.

Can certain mobs like Walnan have their exp award modified ? Both the frost giant elites and Walnan con blue to me.

Thanks for any insight.

The zems on the wiki are likely inaccurate.

Ironically we were just talking about this. Zems are listed on wiki but it really does seem something is weird. Permafrost doesn't seem to be giving as much. And like Kunark 45+ areas like KC/Howling stones/Seb all 94 zem. But each time were there mainly HS XP flys by. And hole(128) which is higher seems about same as KC/Seb. We've been mainly a 3 main since coming back just before thanksgiving. So tried tons of leveling spots, ToFS(122) seemed to be amazing until we out leveled it.

Interesting for sure. I know the Zems were modified last summer (I think it was las summer) so maybe they didnt get updated correctly.

I just thought it odd that a supposedly higher lvl mob being killed in a supposedly higher zem zone would result in a better exp rate, but just doesn't seem to be the case.

Thanks for the input.

I did 59-60 on an epic mob in the back end of Felwithe on my necro. Not sure it can be done anymore with vendor aggro but it wasn't bad at all for 59 XP. He was level 50 though.

The ZEMs in the wiki are from the stock EQ Emulator. P99 doesn't use those numbers, but they're (arguably) better than no numbers at all, so the wiki uses them (typically with a footnote at the bottom of the page, saying what I just said).

In some cases, people have updated them to reflect the P99 changes, but that still doesn't make them accurate. If P99 said "X zone now gives 20% more" that doesn't at all tell you what "X zone" started with. You can add 20% to the EQ Emulator number, but that number might be very different.

The fundamental problem is that on live (where the EQ Emulator numbers came from) people could use the cheat program ShowEQ to see the exact amount of XP a mob gave, which let them infer the ZEM with a bit of math. Here that program is blocked, so either:

A) someone needs to write a cheat that gets around P99's anti-cheat code (and then use it while killing a bunch of mobs in various zones)

or:

B) someone needs to kill a lot of one mob (that has a consistent level) in zone A, then kill a lot of another consistent level mob in zone B, then do the same in C, D, and E, and then do some slightly fancier math to show the relative differences between them.

Someone has updated the wiki since they changed them, I'm sure.

Well how many frost giant elites would you say you kill in 1 hour vs only killing walnan about 8 times in an hour. That is more than likely your difference. Killing 10+ frost giant elites in an hour in an 83 zem will yield more exp than 8 walnans in 100 zem.

A fair point and likely accounts for some of the difference. Just seems fewer lvl47 kills in a higher zem would at least approximate more lvl 45 kills in lower zem zone. Just guessing but I would say easily twice or three times the exp per hour in GD.

Either way, thanks for the input.

Not a huge difference in exp yield between 45 and 47. Let's say for example a level 47 gives 100 exp and level 45 gives 98 exp. Then you take into account only 83 zem, so now the 98 becomes 81 exp. So you kill 5 frost giant elites in 15 min, that's 405 exp. In that same 15 min, you kill two walnans, that's 200 exp. That's about what is probably going on for you and why you notice the difference. Now when the frost giant elites turn green and walnan stays blue, that's when walnan would yield better exp/hour.
