Unpopular opinion but I dont think we are allowed new servers as long as TLPs are coming out - possible reason why discord was scraped and there has been 0 communication on it for years now.

Then again, staff may just not give a shit anymore, point in case releasing Velious on Green with no announcement or hype of any kind. Kind of sucks but at least there is a staff of some kind.

I've heard through the grapevine (just a rumor from someone who supposedly talked to a GM ... but this tracks with what I know of the project in general) that the limiting factor here is staff resources.

A new server is a whole lot of work. A merge between any two servers (Green=>Blue, Red=>Blue, etc.) would also be a whole lot of work. The staff is in no hurry to do that work, especially with their current limited resources ... so the one thing players can do is volunteer, and give them more resources.

I just wish we could have communication one way or the other. I'd be fine either way. I'm a filthy casual with a job and family. If I knew there wouldn't be a new green for a year or more, I'd focus on getting my char towards max level. Green has ended up being more popular and desired than blue.

There's a few things that can happen, but here's one that for sure wont:

My money is that radio silence is going to be upheld until release.

We won't know it's gonna happen till it happens.

TLP has us locked hard on their release schedule and it's in the contract no new servers that coincide with TLP.

Additionally, the community is fractured on wanting green and blue to rejoin or not.

We could be looking at a situation where green is green and blue is blue and a reset for either is not in the future.

Would that be so bad? Nah.

Would I like to have another go at a fresh prog because I missed out largely on the last? Sure.

A simple feat of staggering the new folks would make the launch a whole lot smoother.

Plus, if you lucked out and got in one of the first groups, and your legs didn't work before, they would magically start working again ;)

The chaos of launch day is both part of the experience and not really a problem because it will naturally work itself out in short order. Some people will simply wait to log in, and the neckbeardy ones will slog on through the congested zones. But the level range will quickly stratify. It'll be fine.

It's been my understanding that Green server is the beta project, while Blue server was the alpha. So it seems to reason that a new server will release eventually, once Staff is confident everything is "working as intended" and resources are availabe.

Not long ago I logged in to my OOT toon. There was surprisingly no one there. I looked around, 360 degrees. No one. PH was own. But no one in sight. So I sat down, mem'd my spells, and when he proceeded to complain about me nuking "his mob" I told him.. sorry dude, As far as I know you were just unlucky enough to show up a few minutes after me.

There was a whole fiasco with random people sending me tells to "verify"-- as if I would have any reason to trust these people that he called upon. And whent he AC popped I did as I said I would do--- contest his camp until the GM's could verify his rightful claim over it.. and since that never happened I killed the AC and left.

Logged int he next morning, inquired as tot he terms of my suspension. They said it was 7 days for a f irst offense. Despite there being absolutely 0 reasonf or my to believe this guy. I was supposed ot take his word, when he was somewhere else during the PH spawn timer.

So if we're going to implement completely unclassic rules, we at least need a means to verify who is entitled to a thing. Otherwise it is a system that is left open for abuse.

This is true. Sad to think but in another ten years the amount of people playing p99 will have decreased a decent amount as people get older, pass away etc

Eventually all of this will fade away quite likely within the next several years so we should all just enjoy the hard work that people have put in to make this server a reality for us for free. The fact that we’re even able to enjoy old school norrath like this is amazing.

Did you ever do a /who? Guessing you didn’t and he was invis. Your fault then. Players are also allowed to leave a camp as long as they don’t leave the zone and are back by the time the mob spawns. So sounds like you stole a camp

I'm inclined to agree. If you're in doubt, then ask for a camp check in OOC and wait a minute or so.

Can't tell you the amount of times someone has started pulling my camp while I was shapeshifted into a tree.

I feel like the situation wasn't great either way. I probably would have accepted the vouches even if they were his friends, then opened a petition yourself to explain the situation. I don't really like drama and it's just not worth the hassle.

You shouldn't just assume the worst and then selfishly act. That reflects more on you than anything else.

Other than that: Make sure your logs are running, then send a petition using the forums to appeal your suspension. If you think it was unjust, this is the only course of action.

If the staff's goal was to give us all of Luclin to enjoy the post-Chardok revamp era, we should be hearing an announcement of Green 2.0 in a couple months (as they announced it about two months before the launch last time) ... but I'm not exactly holding my breath waiting for that to happen.

People could level in peace on their Green/Blue and then PVP in end game on Red. This would ensure a constant stream of characters coming through Red, breathing new life into the server and allow people to compete right away in major content, if they decide to stick around.

This would be win/win for most people.

Red was a lot of fun back when it first released, but the population dwindled over time and now you see a ton of sad losers inhabiting the ruins.

The server is played out and honestly kinda finished now. If you don't like the idea of other servers being merged into red, then what about red merging into blue and a fresh pvp server starting up? It's an experience you just can't get with a bluebie ruleset.

What about adding a bit of custom content to Blue, which mainly would be PVP zones, which the current Red playerbase would be moved to? Red is wiped clean and gets a fresh restart, while red players can remain in PvP?

Back on live, Luclin was truly the beginning of the end for pvp as you could not attack other players in the Nexus or the Bazaar. I don't understand why anyone would want pvp to be limited to certain zones. EQ pvp is not a novelty bc you can sometimes kill a person, but bc it adds a layer of social depth to the experience and guild politics can now play out in even more ways.

just my opinion. it's likely that EQ pvp as i remember it truly is dead, and it makes me kinda sad that so many EQ players never experienced it to begin with. there was something very magical about it, *sigh*

What about adding a bit of custom content to Blue, which mainly would be PVP zones, which the current Red playerbase would be moved to? Red is wiped clean and gets a fresh restart, while red players can remain in PvP?

There's one bit of PvP that absolutely should be added to both Blue and Green, and it's actually 100% classic.

Back on live, Luclin was truly the beginning of the end for pvp as you could not attack other players in the Nexus or the Bazaar. The more effort they put into bad PvP (it's always been shit, even before there were better games to compare it to), the longer it's going to take to get Green2.0 going. There isn't going to be another PvP server. It'll be populated for a month, then die to what Red is now, and just become another bill to pay to keep the server active. Just shut up about it. EQ PvP sucks and so do the people who pretend to have ever enjoyed it.

Saw something similar during Velious back in the day. Giant gnome spawned in I believe Lower Faydark, by the abandoned Druid ring. My friend (Ranger) had used his Tolan'a BP, and there it was with a ton of people on it. He jumped in, somehow got loot credit by the time the thing died, and woke me up (I passed out because we had been playing in 12 hour shifts to camp Stormfeather, and I had just gotten his map piece) to show me him looting a Siblisian Berserker Cloak. There were a couple other things on it, but nothing either of our toons could use so I don't remember what it was.

Kid always got so damn lucky in EQ. I burnt out all my luck in WoW like a dipshit lol

The degree to which people here over estimate the impact of /guildwar is absurd. You realize its completely consensual like a /duel right? Raid guilds aren't just going to war up every few days during a contested raid or some shit.

They might do it alot more with juicy rewards like:

* Choosing 5 very contested raid mobs to have to themselves for 24hrs on next respawns

* 100k -300K platinum divided evenly to contestants

* Manastone, AoN, Manna robe etc

* Losing guild cant kill any raid mobs for several days or maybe a week etc

We just need to be creative with agreed upon rules/rewards to get the PvE players really imvested in the /guildwar. :cool:

Here's just 1 example:

A truly competent and competitive spirit could just be enough to tip the scales in a guild-wide <Kingdom> or <Safe Space> vote to voting "Yes" for guild-war with <Good Guys>
* This would of course depend on some clearly defined rules that seemed fair to most with significant risk/reward on the line...

This sort of "guild war" with real risk/reward would perhaps best be in a controlled environment relegatrd to just 1 zone or maybe 2 with GM or Guide referees though. :cool:

While I like the idea of the /guildwar mechanic, your ideas about motivating rewards don't really work in the current P99 meta. You have a top guild and then one or two others who can occasionally contest in ToV etc.

There's no real scenario where the risk/reward is worth it for the top guild. Why would they engage in a guildwar that could result in them getting locked out of targets just to get a monopoly on targets that they already have a near monopoly on? Just not really a good call for any top guild to engage in.
