View Full Version : A motion to implement /key

The "Classic" argument is played out. Several mechanics have been changed (for the betterment of the game) already, like maximum mobs hit by spells to prevent AE killing and swarm kiting, and Pegasus cloak (I still don't agree with this one, but whatever).

It's time to implement /key. Nobody enjoys this "classic" aspect of the game, and corpses in Sky are a hassle. I'm kindly asking the wonderful devs of p99 to implement this feature that I'm sure the original EQ devs would have implemented long before.

Also would like guild/raid tool, but I'm not picky. If we could get /key, I would be supremely happy.

I'd also like to see Shadows of Luclin implemented on green before Green 2.0 is dropped.

K thanks! <3

Who cares? It's a quality of life thing, not a timeline thing. I'm sure they would have put it in at the start of the game. The only reason they put it in was because of Vex Thal, and I'm sure they would have put it in Kunark for VP but didn't think about it then.

But I want to make it a timeline thing. I want to play in SoL :(

Sounds like this idea has momentum. Green release of SoL before Green 2.0. It's what the people want.

Would be a gamebreaker for me to be honest. What's next? Custom GM events and content? I'm fine with velious and maybe a good exp bonus on holidays.

What is /key?

It just makes it so you can loot your corpse a little more easily, and have a few extra inventory slots, because it provides a special extra keys-only bag (essentially).

It's one of those things that pretty much undeniably made the game better, but it truly wasn't there in classic (ie. the whole point of this place). Then again, neither were custom UIs or pet windows, and keyrings came out at the same time or very shortly thereafter, so they're "grey" enough (classicly speaking) to start fights here :)

They were in Test server before Luclin iirc, so in a way they are classic for players of the right server?

Still, I like the opportunity cost of having to sacrifice an item slot for access to best zones.

Yeah, they're definitely right on the line.

Personally, I'd like to see them as a "we're truly at the end of the timeline" feature ... which is to say that if it were me, I'd add them when Green merges into Blue :)

delete those spider silks and extra bone chips and you'll have enough inventory room for 4 keys. Is it too much space for you? you have up to 80 spots for crap in bags and 4 is too tough?

I think its less about the slots and more about the hassle of looting soulbound keys.

This is why we love the game. Not for magical key rings that aren't even apart of our time line in the first place.

There is plenty that's nto classic about this game. The User interface. The resolutions. /list. Mandatory sharing of raid targets. I could go on but you get the point.

Just found out a monk can do the cleric epic and spawn Ragefire. Such a classic experience right there.

Did you know the original idea for a Monk came from a vacation Brad made with his parents when he was 14. The whole flying kick animation was from a story in his life.

Agreed for soulbound keys. I would love dot tick damage in the logs at the same point, too.

But this isn't an MQ. It's the spawning of a mob for the cleric epic. This a single item going to a mob to spawn the dragon. An MQ is when two people turn in a single item for the last turnin PC to get the item. Non-Cleric classes being able to spawn Rage is dumb.

PatChapp

It's actually a pretty handy mechanic.
I gathered the pieces on my magician and spawned a ragefire for my friends cleric.
I had to mq the orbs I received to him
The spawning of ragefire is part of the mq.

Goobles

The proper way that MQ would work is:

random_char_08 hands Singed Scroll to X mob
Cleric hands Scepter to X Mob
Cleric gets reward

Exactly how the Thurg quest works. Not random_char_08 can do the entire quest and then Cleric loots everything and gets final turn in.

If Chanters and Bards can run around Velk freely without aggro, add /key

And I bet the reason only Humans could be Monks was the fact that they were too lazy to add all those additional animations for other races

Huh?

Enchanters and Bards can roam freely around Velk without aggroing anything. If that's gonna be broken, might as well add /key and other QoL features.

Keys would be nice and if its true that it was the on test before luclin we could work with that.

I do think I'd they did that, which they won't, it would likely take 6 or 8 years. Building velious was 5 years but luclin has way more complexities.
