I'm not using it, but the spell timer thing would be nice since we don't get a message when spells wear off anymore and setting up Gina is kind of a pain to do for lower level characters.
But at the same time I don't really want to get banned over it? Like it's not that serious. The map thing, IDK how I feel about, I really just want easy access to spell timers for my DoTs on this lower level character because it's kind of hard to keep up with them.

I haven't done it yet, I'm waiting to see what other people say first, lol. Also I'm kind of scared because anytime I've messed with my P99 files in the past the game has become unplayable and it's turned into a huge hassle.

You're not wrong, but IDK how I feel because it's like... when this game first came out, you couldn't even alt-tab out of it, now we regularly watching youtube and glancing at the wiki page anytime we get lost or need help. I remember doing the Hag Tower on my Cleric and being tabbed out with 3 stopwatches open to keep from having the roamer in the hall way or the Undead Knight spawn on top of me when I'm OOM. That's definitely not classic, lol.

My understanding is you're allowed to use programs like nparse which read just the log file and present information derived from it.

You might not get arrested but it will slowly but inevitably destroy the game for you. Every buff will be optimally cast. What's that? 15 minutes left on everybody's buffs? better med early. No more close call, no more surprises, just meticulous execution of your few tasks. You'll eventually find yourself indistinguishable from a robot. Why are you even doing this? You've been in the same group doing the same thing for hours staring at timers.
Remember getting lost and stumbling into a new NPC? Don't worry that won't happen. Only the direct route for you. The third party gamer.

I'm okay with buffs not having visible timers. On major buffing classes I pair up similar length buffs and cast them at the same time. The next pair gets staggered back a bit and then next pair, etc. Works for me but I'm a bit lost with dots and slows dropping without a message. I try to recast when mobs get to a certain level of health but it's obviously not efficient. I've been avoiding going the GINA route.

When I can in my head time my next cast of root or mez from memory to land roughly the second that it fades, I tell myself I’ve played this game too much
And I’ve played it far less than most
Definitely shouldn’t need a timer for buffs when solo at least. You haven’t memorized a fairly accurate idea of when they’ll fade from having cast them 98375 times before?

IDK how I feel about this statement just because when I played on Green, most raiding guilds required me to have Gina installed. And I was also playing a Shaman (and I'm playing it now) and I found the game less enjoyable with melees bitching me out 24/7 because I didn't know when 1 of my 10 buffs wore off of them, lol.
But realistically I'm on Blue now, and I've never had a group in the 40 levels I've played my Shaman here, and 44 levels I've played my Cleric here, and I just find it irritating when I'm solo'ing and no longer get messages for when my DoTs wore off. I feel like if I had had these DoTs before the "worn off" message was removed I would have a better idea of when it was time to refresh them, but I got them both all after the messages had been removed and it feels like I'm not solo'ing as efficiently as I could be (which is important when you're competing with other players for mobs and camps).
Not really interested in this for buff tracking ATM, feel like Gina would prob be better for that anyways. But when I saw this video (it was recommended to me by the YouTube algorithm; I didn't search it out, I wondered if something like this was actually allowed).

I was in that guild for 4 hours before I rage quit (most of my friends rage quit in under a week) because of how rude the officers were. This was long before Kunark came out, so it may have changed a lot since then.

I do this with some things, but I'm really not interested in the buff tracking ATM. Even though I'm a Shaman and the buff tracking thing would greatly benefit my class, I couldn't find a group if I tried because I'm on blue and that's really just how it is.
I would just like to know when my DoTs are wearing off I guess. Because counting to 48 in my head every time I cast Venom of the Snake gets old after a while.

I guess it depends on what you're doing in EverQuest and what your experience level is, but I think this game is more intense than other MMOs in the market. Like on WoW I don't even have to know what I'm doing, I just run through content and button mash and follow exclamation points.
On P99 I do research for hours finding out weird camps, and then go there and have to min. max, running multiple stopwatches, and not being able to take a 2 minute piss break because I might die. I consider the way I play EQ to be kind of hardcore compared to other MMOs I play.
But at the same time, you can argue WoW is harder if you are playing at the absolute high end. There's a lot of pointless grinding that you have to do daily to even be mediocre. High end raiding guilds are extremely competitive and cutthroat. WoW PVP can be really difficult etc. AFK play-style is not really viable when compared to EQ (which is actually something I like about EQ, being able to like, just hang out, watch some YouTube, kill a mob every 6 minutes or so).

A+ post
You will never have true classic environment unless somehow you populate the new server with 75% or more players completely new to EQ - people who also never played wow seriously or any other mmo games released after 1999.

Don't use Graham crackers, it came out terrible. I had to douse it in hot sauce to make it edible, and my cast iron still reeks of it.

TBH did Enchanters even do cool stuff back in the day? I remember thinking they were for sure the weakest of the casters, especially in the early days. I remember thinking it was exciting when you would read about their spells and it would say they can turn into a tree, or a book, or how it's neat that they can enchant weapons (could they ever do that? the strategy guide that I still own says they could). But that they ultimately were just more of a class you played to have fun rather than to be useful or good, but no one I knew really min/maxed or cared.
I think it was Velious by the time I realized that Haste/Clarity/Mez was OP. Never really saw people using Charm, actually most groups I was in strictly forbid it due to the high risk, lol.
