Removing Blocks of High Quality Ore from goblin's loot tables

I can't find, for the life of me, proof that these were ever removed from Everquest. Why did we ever nerf them? I can't find any threads explaining why. It's BS they were ever taken out and they should be put back in.

I bet they did it (on Live) because it caused zone disruptions for leveling groups.

But there were barely any groups in there on P99, in my experience, anyway.

If there were, they stuck to Bar or Throne and everyone else farmed the goblins on the other side of the zone.

honestly an item that pops for 200 that is pretty common is probably the best way to go quantity over quality in this case makes camping it easier just pop on grab some and go to ec and tunnel it up

That's why I farm vendorable items for 600-800p per hour instead of going all the way out to Droga, fight others for spawns, then come all the way back to EC and try to sell in an attempt to make 1k or 1.2k.

A) they were definitely on the loot tables on live as late as 2005. i racked up a bunch of plat farming a block of permafrost for my wars epic

B) good. so many times on p99 have had to concede exp for my group (level 20s-30s) because some level 45 who is looking for low-hanging fruit is killing goblins for bricks in Sol A or Permafrost.

I made probably 15k pp back in the day farming that ore in Sol A (or B I get those mixed up)

But Droga is pretty decent for vendorable drops. I’m always down for other spots if you know of any that aren’t super secret

Well my 'super secret' comment was tongue-in-cheek, because they're not secret, but just some guards and NPCs who drop unusually valuable items/weapons.

They're lower-per-hour than Droga, but more consistent, less contested, and you don't need to TunnelQuest.

There are some people who spend 2 hours crawling into HS East, only to get an item that sells for 400p in EC.

To me, that's not worth it.

And I'm not geared enough to solo a Cliff Golem to farm Topor spells or something.

Richest? Idk. Best geared? Definitely.

I spent several dozen hours in Seb crypt on shaman farming hiero cloak and JBBs. 20k each on green.

Since spon is every 28 minutes, it gives me rougly 25 minutes to go do stuff elsewhere. It's a very low effort camp and that's why I rolled shaman.

In 1 week I got 2 JBBs and a hiero cloak - made a quick $80k. (hiero camp is NOT worth it for clearing only 1 spawn, took 40 hours total for 1 cloak).

In that 1 week I was the most productive ever at work- because it turns out working in 20 minute spurts and then breaking for 10 minutes is great for mental health. After work, I spent that 20-25 minutes cleaning my apartment, reading and playing with my cats.

Would I ever do that again? Hell fuckin no. I refuse to play for more than 2 hours at a time these days, buy that 3 months getting to 60 on a shaman, the 3 months raiding to get a little gear, a week of farming sebilis and then 3 months of tunnelquesting has given me more plat than I'll ever be able to spend.

Probably not. Not the named anyway. They hit hard, and the fights take alot of mana, so shaman has to canni virtually the whole fight

No, I did sebilis groups with friends in crypt, ABC, disco and sold a few RBGs, Hiero cloaks, etc. Sell and split. It's easy to make money if you have a few strong friends

I'm too lazy to search, but when ore blocks were removed, I seemed to remember hearing that they were introduced later in the timeline (out of era for p99) as the reason for removal. So, that would track with why you were seeing them in 2005.

The roughest thing for me was finding out that they nerfed the Halflings in Misty Thicket. I used to make 10K a night farming these. And honestly I support the nerf to them, but I think the problem is that it was done too late and in the future, it should probably be done very early on, if not day 1 on new servers.

Before if I wanted an item that cost 40K, no big deal, open up YouTube, or find a Podcast, and farm halflings for a few hours every night. Minimal effort, and after no time, I would have enough money to buy whatever it was I wanted. Even if you just did them an hour a night, you would accrue a massive amount of $$$ in a months time, and the content wasn't challenging at all.

But now that's gone, and that's fine, but the problem is, the prices on servers are still super high, and there's not nearly as many ways for new or returning players to generate the kind of wealth expected out of them in order to buy stuff.

I guess I'm technically a little bit of a twink on Blue because I did level my Gnome Cleric off of halfling guards for as long as I could stand it, but then I run into other players my level who just started and I'm confused at how gimped they are because they are level 40 and still wearing ringmail, and go OOM trying to kill a blue mob.

I feel like if they had played pre-halfling nerf they would easily have gotten 200+ wisdom by level 40, but now all the decent plat camps are over-farmed, so they find themselves having to solo cactuses and mountain giants who drop trash loot.

I just hope on the new server, assuming it launches in 2023, that Halfling spears is nerfed from day 1. Think it will help the economy over all in the long run versus waiting 3 years into a server's life span to suddenly remove them.
