Since I made a VOW to my pal hobby I would only post in RnF, I shall respond to a server chat post here. And since it's RnF, I'll make it rude.

But efficiency isn't all about least damage taken over time in every case, you have to take other factors into consideration, including group makeup. Taken to an extreme, a ranger may take 30% more damage than a plate class but if the end result is that the cleric casts a single complete heal then the damage taken is irrelevant.

You also need to take into account any time spent sitting around waiting for a plate tank when a ranger could be tanking immediately, even if it's not quite an optimal solution. Exp > no exp.

Clearly plate tanks will take less damage than a ranger. Equally clear is that some situations may not make that any more efficient over time.

Why not have a god damn fucking wizard tank then, if complete heal makes damage taken irrelevant? Go back to elementary school fucking math. Maybe if a cleric had infinite mana then a complete heal will make damage taken irrelevant.

Let's just run through this. SLOWLY. Take your figures, which I'm sure are completely made up and based on nothing. If a ranger takes 30% more damage, then a cleric needs to cast complete heal MORE OFTEN. The more often a cleric has to cast complete heal, the more mana HE FUCKING USES. If he uses his mana too often, then he RUNS OUT.

With a plate class, he uses LESS mana. When he uses his mana less often, he may NOT run out.

This is EFFICIENCY.

k.

Please note I wouldn't be nearly as rude in server chat. Just trying to make sure hobby doesn't move the post to a more appropriate venue ;)

Hey, Ektar, you dumbass. What if there's a shaman in the group? With a 75% slow it wouldn't matter even if the wizard was tanking, would it? Especially if the bard in the group is playing manasong and the extra 1-2 hits per mob would equal a CH anyway. Not to mention the 6 lvl 60 wizards casting sunstrike out of group. Quit assuming things, Ektar and don't be a sped (thanks Tiggles).

Clerics still use mana for complete heals? All the clerics i run with just click for CH =P. If you are paying mana for a CH, you're doing it wrong imo

Keep in mind, not only is the ranger taking 30% (made up number) more damage, but they only get healed for 75% as much (made up number) as a warrior because they have fewer hitpoints. Meaning they take damage faster and receive less benefit from the complete heal. This further hurts the efficiency of using cheal.

I don't remember the exact numbers, theres a guide to healing as a cleric somewhere, but cheal needs to do at least 1k healing to be more efficient then sup. healing. Beyond that, every point of HP healed is added efficiency.

So, not only are you taking more damage which means you need more heals. You're also being healed for less, meaning you need to be healed more often.

Using more mana, and making the cleric miss more server ticks so they also recover mana slower.

In before Jrwriter responds with something unintelligible.

yessir, that's what I meant for the title to mean. all my bs responses to other sections of the forum will go into this thread. I'm nothing if I'm not clean, tidy, and efficient.

This is like a mutant child of server chat and rants and flames. Not teenage mutant ninja turtle type of mutant, but kinda like meg in that family guy episode where they mutated.

A shitty kind of mutant. Stop posting in this thread I-FUCKING-MMEDIATELY. I have spoken.

ok so you can't just claim "server first tarnished short sword" or some obscure item no one cares about. they're, as noted, milestones. Items that are legendary and known by all for one reason or another - these are milestones. Some weapon gotten by a non-level 60th level character 3 months since it's been available is probably not a gear milestone. And that's even if it were a server first, which it wasn't.

Thanks for tuning into this edition of "what grinds my gears." Tune in next time, which will probably be within 20 minutes, for our next show.
