If only there was another way to gain stats, like equipping armor or something.

What other racial ability do you even care about? Dark Elf Hide? Your goal is to make that obsolete asap anyways (Gazughi Ring). The only thing you're going to care about while camping stuff is gnome vision and you can eliminate the inconvenience of having to recast the buff every 30 minutes by just rolling Gnome initially.
