I do not see the point when there is one person taking it and it takes over an hour. Back on live it was cool because you would have 30-40 people on it. Now it makes no sense. Make translocate an option at least.

They need to update the boats and improve them! They need to put the correct boats in OOT and actually have two of them there. They also need to code them so you don't need a janky levitate to use them. But I've been beating that drum for over a decade now and understand it will never happen.

TAKP will sooner go to single box than the boats being fixed.

Boats are great. Not perfect, but great. Took the boat from Iceclad to Ro the other day. Was a great time catching fishes seeing the ice floes.

Camping mobs for xp and items is a tiny part of the game. Take off your shoes and smell the flowers. Bbq a fresh caught fish.

Went narrow boating for my birthday. Would love to see something like this in game.

The iksar came close with their huge (broken) aquaduct outside old seb and their city canal system in new seb. There should have been a canal system passing through Swamp of No hope to the old iksar port in FV (the lock gates to descend the hill would have been the zoneline).

Weren't there two boats on live? Mirroring the routes so they'd be twice as fast? It's probably faster for a level 10 player to kill bandits and make 30 plat for a port than to wait for the boat, which makes them fundamentally broken.

They're just sort of there and ignored while everyone ports around. Which is fine, even having to ask a dial for a port turns transportation into a social emergent mmo interaction which doesn't exist with pok books.

I ride the boats every now and then for nostalgia. They are fun. Part of the adventure. Some of my fondest memories are being dumped out into the ocean because my 28.8k modem didn't load fast enough.

So, I can see both sides of this. There have been times when I really resented waiting on the boat to arrive. It can often be tedious and boring. However, it really can make the world feel "big". Especially in the early levels, before you can afford or have access to TPs. Running across the world was indeed a "journey". Something is lost when you take away Travel Time.

It's the same thing with Death Penalties. I really, really hate EXP loss and the possible loss of gear. However, it really does make death something to "fear". Dangerous places can cause anxiety and I will take extra precautions when traveling through them. There is a feeling of relief when I get through them unscathed. Something is lost when you take away Death Penalties.

Anyway, while we are on the topic, can we get the original, classic boat back?
