I know a fair number of folks who spend a lot of time on P99 due to divorce/etc but don't know any who separated specifically due to time spent on EQ. Usually it's the other way 'round, time online goes up as an escape from RL issues. Countering the above, one buddy did meet and get married to a woman he met on P1999.

In the original game there were plenty of stories of couples breaking up/divorcing/etc due to EQ, perhaps not any moreso than on P99 per capita but it was a much larger community.

I never had this confirmed, but I planned a LAN party weekend with my EQ friends during fabled times one year. Apparently that weekend she ended up hooking up with an ex since I was "blowing her off". Our relationship was never the same after that. I later found out about the cheating, but not a 100% sure when that happened.

Anyway, totally worth it. That weekend was some of the best gaming of my life. Plus it is good to find out people are cheaters before you get too far.

Then 2 kids later it makes you numb, luckily for me though she wanted to relive her 20s at 30 and it spiraled all down hill from there very quickly and well shes dead now so.....I dont get bothered about playing anymore. And side note, this happened 2yrs ago while we were divorced for 4yrs prior to that.

I also know a couple who played together back around 2003, she ended up leaving him and moving from Cali to Chicago to hook up with a raid leader from a different guild and fuck him for pixels.

I have not heard of such cases, but my girlfriend also annoyed me for a long time because, in her opinion, I play a lot. Perhaps it was. I came home from work and played, went to work and played, rested on weekends, and played. But it was my way of relaxing and distracting myself.
She realized that I would not give up this game and agreed to start playing with me. Now we spend time playing games together. Recently, we even bought FIFA 22 Cheap (https://www.cdkeysforgames.com/games/steam-games/fifa-22/) and Dot accounts. We want to try something new; we might like it.
If a person does not accept your interests, then this is not your personal, and, logically, you need to break up with him.

We've been together happily for over 10 years and I see no end in sight. (At least not until the servers end from WW3.) I'm physically fit and every time I go outside women try to pick me up but I'm not interested. Even if they play EQ, I'm not sharing that part of my life with them. Some may consider this to be a sign of great basement dwelling or trolling but it doesn't have to be that way. I own my own house and live alone and do everything alone..and yet I am not alone.
