View Full Version : How is the community?

Last time I played this game was 2004 as a teenager. I believe the last expansion I experienced was planes of power.
I have tried regular Everquest free to play and hated it with all the changes. So, I am wondering. Is the community on the Green server and such good helpful people or is it just boxers and such(not sure if that is allowed)? I dunno if I want to keep going if there is no one to play with! :)
On a side note, it is funny how one remembers all the old zones and how to get around even this far into the future! It was like second nature going to a bard after 18 years away.

Plenty of fun people. I've been in groups from level 5 on up as recently as this week. As for boxers, technically not allowed, but there are cheaters out there, but kind of rare in my opinion.

Staff here is very strict about boxing and botting\afk leveling\farming. There are tons of people who are new, leveling up, and lots of people with alts. Mostly I'd say the community is very friendly, with the occasional jerk but nothing major.

I stopped playing about the same time you did. I was really nervous about finding a guild or even people my level to group with, but the population of this server is big enough (and nice enough) that I've played for a year now. A ton of people gave me fairly cheap gear, even some really nice hand me downs, and I'm having a pretty good time.

P99 in general has a great community. There for sure are jerks around, but my experience has been 99% positive. We're all here because we love the game and most are reliving our childhoods for free (donate if you can though). Still can't believe this is a thing I get to do. Welcome!

Just dropped by and buffed a nearly full group of 11-13's at Derv 2 in North Ro.

We're here! Come and play!

I ran past a group of teen lvls at the oasis orcs. Community is thriving, you have to hit the hot spots at some level ranges but their is people at all level ranges

P99 has a great community with a small but vocal group of manchildren. If you don't plan on do high end raiding and don't spend too much time on the forums chances are you will never ever bump into them.

1-60 is great. Helpful players, fun content, reliving the past.

Raid scene is atrocious. I've only got experience in 2 of the top raiding guilds on the server, but they both suck. Pixel-hungry, and seem to forget this is a game.

Yeah the current raid guild pitchline seems to be "Hey join up now! No pressure it's totally chillax!" and then you join and its like this frenzy of parking characters and loading heal bots and coth bots and if you have a question about how a raid works you have to ask like ten people before somebody answers your question, after specifically telling you to just feel comfortable asking questions!

Like what the fuck is "scout roll", some velious contested thing? I barely raided velious at all. I swear I've asked this twenty times and it's just totally ignored.

Here's some info. Let me know if I leave anything out. Scout roll is not a raid.
https://wiki.project1999.com/Leuz%27s_Task
Step 1: Be level 55 or higher and Amiable to Skyshrine
Step 2: Visit Commander Leuz, a little black drake near the entrance of Skyshrine, and say, 'I will accept this task.'
Step 3: Show up in Western Wastes at Scout Charisa's spawn point 10 hours after the last Scout Roll. There should be a bunch of people there. /random 1000 when Scout Charisa spawns. The highest roller turns in the Scout Tools to Scout Charisa. This spawns a squad of giants down the hill.
Step 4: Someone will pull the squad of giants. Someone else will tag the Captain with a spell or projectile and bring it to the group (don't heal this person as they are dirty). The group will murder the Captain. The winner of the roll loots the Broken Disc and turns it in to Scout Charisa for the reward.

Btw, when it comes to making raiding accessible for more players, some guilds walk the walk. Lots of players in my guild didn't know about this great and easy quest. Here's the announcement I made to <Castle> explaining this quest and highlighting the level requirement. Now tons of us have double BOBs and Talisman of Benevolence.

If they could come up with a way to make the raid scene not completely draining for a functional adult I would play on P99. The Forum community is great, the grinding community is great and the raid scene is horribly boring and taxing.

Instancing with no spawn timers, but that's probably impossible.

I don't know how people did it back on live. I never did. The game wrecked my life enough without diving deep into raiding. I can only imagine if I was setting my alarm for like 2 AM so I could wake up and raid or some shit.

Ive been in 1 guild in 20 years where they were proactive about helping people learn the raids, but then like 6 months after they formed if you asked how to do it they would stomp your dick off in vent.
