What are some things you veterans wish you knew when you started.
Anything to help new players.

When starting out playing a class where gear is not super important can enhance your initial gaming experience.
Necromancer, Cleric, Enchanter, Druid, Mage, and Monk fit the bill. They are not super gear dependent and can do great things naked.
Most melee classes take a huge hit compared with Spell casters until they are well geared. That may be months down the line if you are starting out.
If you do end up sticking around for a while, then double back and make your 2nd character the one that requires gear/equipment rather than your first.

When playing a caster you don’t need to purchase every spell every spell level. Some spells are fairly useless and aren’t worth the plat. Don’t fall into the what’s best in slot meta and go with the what looks the coolest to you. Who cares if some race combo levels faster if you hate the look of it.

Once you get used to a GCD reset clicker, you can’t imagine playing without one. A normal GCD feels like an eternity

That you can get 100x more done if you do a few multi hour sessions a week instead of many 1 hour sessions

That you only need to be sitting for med ticks, You can spend the rest of your time running around as long as you time your med ticks and get 90%+ efficiency

Blasphemy. Though, sometimes I wish I rolled halfling for that sneak.
On topic -
1. Strafe running puts your hitbox more in front of you, W key will put it behind you - getting you killed a lot even with a big lead.
2. Illusions don't set your faction to a specific number, they increase faction enough to make you reach dubious or better often, without hits.
3. Hitting a mob before it's pulled into camp (and doing damage) will keep it off of your sitters. Exceptions are pet classes and their weird agro, as far as I can tell.
4. Don't let anyone tell you you're idea is bad until you test it for yourself. Ever seen a bard swarm using a one-button Z or C side strafe? Only ever once.
5. Friends > Pixels - but we all knew that right?

That no, putting all my points into CHA as a high elf paladin is not a good idea. xD
Young me thought that EQ would work like D&D and such, where you could solve problems with diplomacy and a silver tongue.

Actually being a hgh elf pally with max charisma isnt that bad. Probably not idea or anything but itll really reduce your critical failure rate for lulling, which is actually fairly useful!

True, I definitely still wouldn't do that again though. The lack of physical stats was pretty painful.
I was smarter and knew better when I rerolled that pally into a DE SK about a month later.
