View Full Version : Is gambling allowed on P99?
2 examples:
I like to make an poker trounament. It will cost every person 1.000pp to buy in, last man standing gets it all.
or
rafle / slot machine.
1.000pp to buy a ticket, max. 1 ticket per account, your ticket will be connected to a number, if at laest 50 people join I do 1 single /random roll, winners gets it all.
Stuff like that.
Is it allowed on P99 or nah?

I want to say it's kind of a gray area.
If I remember correctly, the EC tunnel roll raffles were banned at one point due to scammers. In terms of a friends only poker tournament, I don't think you'd get banned for that unless it became a larger thing and devolved into some weird RMT along the way. I.E, fuck i have less plat than i Thought, can I just venmo u 5 bucks.

yeah EC gambling really took off on blue for a bit, but of course as soon as one person does it, a lot of people get in on the action and then someone wins a little too much and the house just /q instead of paying the debt. Then there are petitions and the GMs have to get involved so they put a stop to all of it.
That was all a long time ago now though so whether the rule is still in place or not I dunno.
oh wow, didnt knew about scammers etc.
Well I dont plan any of it. I also dont plan to start a business with it or anythink like that. Just like to know if its allowed on P99 if me and my friends and maybe random people who like to join do such small games from time to time

Its still banned. Someone got in trouble for an EC casino back on teal not knowing it was against the rules. Then he mouthed off at the gm and made a RnF post about it, which of course was a brilliant move.
gotcha, thanks for the infos guys

I’m sure if you reached out to staff and wanted to organize something like that you might be able to do it.
But just gambling without permission is banned because of scammers, people using it to try and mask RMT of platinum, etc
oh ok.
I might give it a try some day and send a request/suggestion for a poker tournament to the GMs.
I though it might be not allowed on P99 because of possible children playing this game and our all responsibility to not affect them with gambling.

Yeah I doubt they’d do a poker tournament but something like an in game raffle I’m sure could be done

Not allowed: Running a public lottery where players purchase "tickets" with pp or items. Especially if you advertise it in public channels. In general if you are doing something in the open that could secretly be a scam or be a way to hide a RMT, then it is going to get shut down.
Allowed: A give-a-way where you use /ran to determine who to give pp or an item, with no buy-in.
Gray area: Running a isolated private lottery among a group of friends. Awarding pp/item to a friend for something they did out of game (eg win poker tournament).

How about a 50/50. Everyone buys in for 1000pp. If you win, you get to keep 50% of it.
.....the other 50% is for administrative fees...

I loved the guy doing the "/random 1000, if you hit the magic number you win a fungi!"
I forget the entry fee but people were pouring plat in for the chance at a cheap fungi.
Then one day someone hits the magic number.
Casinobot has gone linkdead.
That was the end of that.
Nilbog I think did mention trying to put some kind of casino bot in as a plat sink when custom content came around, but custom content sort of got put on hold in favor of green I guess.

I remember a fungi raffle or two where someone sold like 60 tickets for 1,000pp each or something and kept a list of who had what number between 1 and 60 on display here on the forums. I'm not sure if that was pre-casino ban or what-not. The years all blend together now.
