View Full Version : How's the raid scene nowadays?

I got so burnt out after Kunark launch I took a break for a bit a about a few weeks, then the whole Seal Team drama hit.
How's the endgame going on Green? Who are the dominant guilds now? Who are the casual raiders? Do said casual raiders get boss kills at all nowadays or is it still a one guild show?
From what I recall Kunark launch was a clusterfuck because ST poopsocked so hard they didn't even leave scraps for the rest of the playerbase who have lives and jobs but I hope the replies are as detached from emotion as possible.

Seal Team and Kingdom are top two raid guilds. ST still only guild to clear VP, those two have been pretty neck and neck lately with each winning races. Kingdom has positioned themselves well to compete with ST moving forward into Velious by merging with CI. Venerate, Black Lotus are probably the next tier down and a bit more casual, seems like they maybe get 1 kill a week or every other week when they team up. Those two should just merge already. Castle, Safe Space, Fires of Heaven and Gathered Might the next tier down and try and get kills sometimes they do. I believe Castle/Safe Space had a joint Fay kill yesterday.
Your last paragraph is still pretty accurate ST still poop socks hard and will have 60+ people log in at 3am to kill something that spawns.

The raid scene is disappointing to say the least. Most of my family and friends have quit because of it.

There's bag limits now. Everything outside of VP has a rule that if you kill a raid mob two spawns in a row you sit out the next spawn and don't contest it.

Seal Team and Kingdom don't actually want to compete with each other though. In fact Kingdom is scared shitless of it and avoid it at all costs.

It's exactly the same as P99 has been for the last 10 years - 1 guild dominating, 1 guild eating scraps, and the rest of the server bitching on the forums about how they have lives and raiders are mentally ill basement dwellers.

Bag limits benefited only 1 guild which was Kingdom. Bag limits is useless for the rest of the server. However it did make the competition between ST and Kingdom more interesting since Kingdom is much more engaged in the raid scene now. Black Lotus picks up 1 target every few weeks and that’s about it. Venerate seems to be fading quickly and every other guild is far behind but that’s OK because they are casual guilds and not trying to compete with ST/Kingdom. If you are interested in the raid scene and based on your comments I do suggest Kingdom as an option.

Pretty inaccurate, Kingdom and ST have showed healthy competition last few cycles and especially on the 3 day Trakanons as of late. Both appear to compete heads up for prime targets and not pick targets based on bag limits.
BL/Ven on the other hand actively set their raid targets based solely on what ST is bagged on during a week... and then break major server rules to down the dragon knowing they can just concede the next two weeks they were not going to compete for anyways.

The raid scene is more about elf court on the UN and writing story length petitions and less about killing.

If any of this were true, you would see either one of them at a target at the same time. Instead, on earthquakes they stay as far from each other as possible. neither one will go into the same zone as each on an earthquake, and for some reason Kingdom (despite having as many keys as seal team) will not contest dragons in VP. Is there a rotation or understanding that kingdom wont go into VP because seal team is letting them have trakanon uncontested?

But big and the antithesis of competition if true. That would mean there are zero competitive guilds on Green.

If true I would agree. However, Kingdom doesnt have the same force as seal team does in vp. Trakanon is very much competitive and fun to experience. Should have seen how many guilds ended up in TD in hopes to pick up fte on this last 'quake'. Big gratz to Castle and Safe Space on that kill!

Raid scene is whats to be expected. Bag limits have been a nice change for casual raiders. Though will say the quaking is horrid. 90% of player base is working adults. But they love to quake during 10am-1pm. Meaning only those who work evenings, or don't work have a chance.

No idea what server you play on but move to RNF if you want to just make up stuff. Kingdom contests every Sev and every Trak that ST does.
I don't think you understand the concept of an earthquake if you think guilds are supposed to just follow eachother around.
ST also had 96 players in VP two weeks ago I can promise you Kingdom has no where close to 96 keyed raiders and probably not even 96 active raiders on at any time.
The raid scene has been pretty good as of late no where near the peak of blue during kunark era but you also had many more years of kunark era on blue for other guilds to develop and compete.

The raid scene feels incredibly staged. ST killed something like 35 Trak's straight before Kingdom was able to get 1. Then suddenly ST started to frequently 'mess up' on Trak engages and Kingdom started to win.
If you watched any of the failed engages by ST the 'mistakes' were pretty blatant. We (Kingdom) are a small but mighty guild and we don't need freebies!!

Competition is a fake narrative on all servers hope this helps

Poop sock is arguably the funniest thing in eq.
For effs sake, it’s like you know that dude had a disposable fast food cup or bag nearby but he went straight for the sock for the pic to show his guild how dedicated he is.
