Ducking to Cancel Spell Casting

I've had a lot of players ask me about when, or if, ducking will cancel spell casting. The answer is: about halfway through Velious (the June 2001 patch).


** Gameplay Changes **

- Spell and Item Interruption: Ducking will now interrupt a spell
instantly. You will no longer be able to sit while using items or
casting spells. This will not affect bard songs, which will still work
as they always have, but will affect all items, even those with song-
like effects.

I don't understand this entire post. Completely confused.

I am cancelling casting by ducking at this very moment on Green.

I am not able to sit while casting on Green.

How are players asking you when ducking will cancel spell casting when it cancels spell casting now?

Instant cancel, not after the timer runs out.

I can't stand playing casting classes on green anymore. Under 50 it was one thing, but being stuck in a cast for the whole timer sucks major ass versus on blue or red where you can just reset with a quick double tap of the duck button.

Red had no duck cancel for like two years of velious IIRC I’m honestly surprised they added it into green because they made the decision not to add it to blue even when it was era correct.

I'd kill for this right now. Nothing worse than casting complete heal and being unable to do anything for 10 seconds when a different group member needs help.
