View Full Version : Don't reopen Teal... create Seal

I move that all of <Seal Team> be moved to their own private server. They can have every server first, down every raid target and sell all of their farmed loots to each other.

Can't charm merchants anymore? No problem... do like the guys I saw tonight charming the bankers. So what if no one can bank today?

Sorry, probably rants and flames, but they're only doing this on the Green server, :p

Can you still bank with a charmed banker? I know you can bank with a banker that's hitting you as I've done that. Just curious if a charmed banker still works as one.

Don't charm bankers dick.

Ok, Ok, I came back a few minutes later and they were done and the bankers respawned. I would have updated sooner but Comcast... well, I won't push this further into Rants, lol.

And if I'm completely honest, I've had numerous positive encounters with <Seal Team> members. Hell, the above post by damus1 shows that there was no intention to interfere with anyone's ability to bank.

I've heard stories and rumors about the endgame scene, and I don't know how much to believe. But if the stories are true (the reason for the /list on spell: Summon Corpse; the apparently related delay of Sky; dropping out of the UN) then I still think a private playground for players who think Green belongs to them anyway isn't a terrible idea.

No offense to the affiliated players who don't feel that way.

They don't play to win, they play to make you lose. They'd be there even if they had to delete all their loot drops, so long as they could ensure no-one else was getting it either. As such a private server holds no appeal since there's no-one else to lord it up over.

The idea of a server for only zerg guilds does sound appealing. Because I wouldn't play that server lol.
Force the sockers onto teal!

Push any 'zerg' raid guild onto Teal

This already exists on green, I don't understand

I don't know what to say guys.

Most people playing P99 were not the people that achieved total victory on EQ live. Most of those people were in their 20's and 30s playing in 1999 and most of us are in our 30's now.

Just because there is someone who STILL has more time and dedication and brain damage that allows them to achieve more in this game in the same server as you shouldn't keep you from enjoying the game. I haven't played blue in a while let alone green but if basically every spawn for anything worth killing is 100% permanent locked down by these guys then maybe you should abandon their server and play red where people have to treat you with dignity and not just ignore you forever as they hand their camp off to their guildies or whatever.

Sorry for your struggle though. EQ is big, until all 40 of the high value targets are camped permanently.

All of it. And more that you don't hear about.

I will say that playing at launch w/ seal team was miserable, even at low levels right out of the gates they are trying to dominate low/mid level zones like unrest. Vividly remember phatezz (who I believe was the leader, not sure anymore) in unrest very purposely and intentionally training people, just so they can pull the entire zone. And of course the GM shows up and nothing ever happens because they're all friends or comrades in RMT or something.

Without seal team, somebody else would just assume the role of server douchebags. And they still may; Inglourious Basterds were the original server douchebags on blue, however the title of server douchebags went on to change hands multiple times. Embrace it, it's part of everquest.

Can someone explain to me the purpose of charming bankers/merchants? Do they provide any benefit over charming other mobs (like ones that backstab for example)? Is it just because of their non-faction?

Morton Jr

If you removed seal team it would be replaced by another guild of adult children that hog everything exactly the same

the only solution is instancing or pvp, sorry if your confused about everquest in 2020

As the game evolves, new behaviors emerge. You have to be ever watchful for new and creative ways to be a gigantic douchebag.

I casually leveled on Green. No issues with ST players at all. I later joined ST for dragon tourism purposes, they’ve been nothing but friendly and helpful. When I used to port they also tipped well and as I tipped a very patient wizard yesterday in DaP he told me that ST players do tip well. This unlike some other guilds, I was personally left without even a thanks by more than one Kingdom player for instance.

One of the first questions I got was if I had screen video capturing software. Why? To prove that everything we do is legit whenever there’s a dispute. I thought they were paranoid but only after a few raids it was made very clear how they were accused of cheating at every turn. The various FTE rules (to me as casual) appear arbitrary and pointless when it doesn’t stop accusations of cheating.

I’m sure some ST hare is warranted and yes ST monopolozes much of the content. Overall though the hate seems overblown, baseless and just bitter.

I agree with this. Most Seal Team members I come across have been very nice and

helpful.

Guess people hate it when a guild is better than them

no matter what game your playing there's bound to be people who want to be the best

it just be like that

Yeah I have mostly positive experiences with their members also, but frankly I would feel unsafe if the server didn't have at least one gang of dbags monopolizing everything and I literally mean that. If anything they are too nice

It's classic - there will always be a "top guild". People will either hate or adore them. Some clever few will "ignore" them and enjoy the game. I encourage those who don't belong to the first two to embrace the 3rd. It's still a fun game.

This is a false premise. Douchebags do not keep rising up, we just got old douchebags from blue.

Honestly, one of the greatest things about Teal was that it inadvertently separated the players into two groups. Everyone who cared about getting "server firsts" and racing to the top and all that stayed on Green, while everyone who was like "a server with less 'competition', where you can just play EQ casually? that sounds awesome!" went to Teal.

As a result, for a brief beautiful moment you almost had a server for "the casuals", and a server for "the competitors", and it was like the perfect expression of classic EverQuest ... until the devs squashed the dream and threw both groups together on the same server.

Now, this "split" wasn't at all intentional on the devs' part: it was just a side effect of releasing Teal after the fact. But imagine how harmonious everyone's EQ experience would be if there actually was two servers ... one for "casuals" and one for "competitors"?

I think that's a pipe dream, you would at least be slightly spreading out camp competition, but make no mistake, if people thought there was more opportunity to get a chance at rare items on teal, they would.

Ultimately what teal would do is cut in half the number of neckbeards per server.

Gustoo
11-13-2020, 12:12 PM
Yep. There would be no unspoken "we are all casuals" server for more than like ten seconds. As soon as it became a "permanent" server people would be playing on both green and teal at the same time to double down on their pharming operations.

Even now the guys serious about socking are probably playing blue and green at the same time. Nothing is going to keep them from tabbing over to teal as well.

Seal Team has like 200 active players now, they are an absolutely massive zerg, of course plenty of the players (most?) are going to be perfectly normal, nice EQ players.

The problem is their leadership. The toxic alpha-nerd attitude comes directly from the top, from Phatezz, Vill, Smash etc.

Just read the UN Discord for 5 minutes and you’ll see just how sad and shitty these folks are about playing EQ, there’s no way that attitude wouldn’t trickle down and permeate the entire guild. Has nothing to do with “classic” EverQuest and everything to do with pathetic nerd egos.

I recall being lectured by a Steal Steamer to apply and join their guild, because they "work hard" to get things. This was after declining to let them keach exp from my camp. When I replied I am here for fun, and how my job is where I work, I was mocked for being a weirdo. Now, I know there are good and bad in every guild, but this special creature I met is all too common a breed within P99 Green. Again, I support the movement to bring back Teal.

I dunno, I think competitors are drawn to competition: there's no bragging rights in "winning on the carebear server".

Now of course people would play on both servers, I'm not denying that. But if only one server had server firsts, un-rotated raid mobs, and similar mechanics ... so that only they had the true "thrill of competition" ... I legitimately think the people who like competing at classic EQ would focus most of their effort on said server.

Pff I'd argue with the current setup that winning on p99 is akin to winning on a carebear server. When you absorb everyone willing to watch a stream for 16 hours that got sick of seeing the same fte'rs from the other guild scoop the mob up then well... you end up with everyone willing to 'win' p99 in one spot, hardly a competition
