Wait for Kunark?

Thinking about coming back to P99 on Green. Have a 27 warrior which I am not motivated to jump in and start leveling.

Was thinking about waiting for Kunark release then rolling up an Iksar.

Wondering if there will be lots of company for leveling a new Ikky or if everyone will be jumping into level 51 content with their mains.

I suppose another option would be starting now and leveling a druid or something more solo/leveling friendly.

Also, best guess is Kunark is coming out around Thanksgiving sometime?

Yeah, I'm get a few levels on my main first before rolling my Iksar necro. The newb zone should be thinned out by then.

There will be plenty of iksars, but I'm guessing 90% of them will be necros and monks. Won't necessarily be easy to find a conventional group that has a healer and stuff.

When leveling in Field of Bone, don't be worried about players being around. worry about suitable mobs around in the first days after release.

Good thing iksars have several newbie zones. The other ones aren't as good as FoB, but if it's literally impossible to get mobs there, at least you have other options. WW is admittedly really bad at level 1, but all four of the zones surrounding Cabilis have low-level mobs (including level 1s) and can be leveled in. LoIO isn't even that bad. I don't think it'll be a big problem really. Necros can also tough it out until level 4, train meditate and buy the key spells up to level 16ish, and then get a port and bind outside Freeport or something. That's what I'll probably do if it stays crowded.

The cool thing about rolling an iksar warrior is that you have options for avoiding Kunark lowbie zones at level 1. For example, you can get a port to Gfay, bind, and massacre orcs to quickly get in good with the elves / dwarves, giving you access to trainers, banks, etc. in far less congested zones. As a bonus, having access to Crushbone means you'll rocket through the first twenty or so levels and probably end up ahead of the curve.

I guess you could do the same thing with any class, although having to port back and forth to train in Cabilis would be really obnoxious.

Food for thought, thanks all. I will see what moves me. I was thinking an Iksar shammy at launch but you bring up good points about congestion. Also rolling a tank is a good idea but it would be my third warrior I have started on Green.

SK would be cool but the xp penalty. Speaking of which, Iksar monk is the same xp penalty as a paladin ranger sk or bard?

The regeneration will cover a good portion of the penalty, just because you don't have healing nor can bandage >50%. In soloing, this is a matter of being at 60%HP or like 80%HP (depends on lvl and gear) once mana is full.

And most penalty comes from SK itself. Iksar SK is solid and they got nice quests at low levels...And XP penalty only really mean more time in your favorite spots until you've grown out of them :)

Pretty sure that EC stays the dominant market, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to bring some lowbie gear for sale in FoB since the demand will be high!

EC has boat ride to Kunark next door in oasis. Tunnel is still the most important crossroads between all zones and factions. And there is no really good porting spell for Kunark that converges to zones that are visited by low and high levels of various races alike.

I think its actually worse, everyone says like with Troll SK its multiplicative not additive. So like 20% monk with 20% iksar is actually worse than the straight 40% class only penalty that sk/rng/brd/pal have if they aren't a penalized race.

Oh man, that'd be great. It had been so long I wasn't sure if the combo was possible, but somehow I knew it wasn't. The greatness would just be too high..

I mean ya but not by tons.... 1.2 iksar penalty X 1.2 monk penalty = 1.44 vs 1.40 4% diff but hp regen while sitting is 18 @ 60 vs 7 for non iksar. And 14 vs 5 while feigned 12 v 4 while standing That’s a massive 150%+ diff in base hp regen on all areas and standing its 200%!

That is true for solo only. In a group you get healing and regeneration spells. Those big % will drop very rapidly there.
