Seems every day I run into:

"Oh yea hehe thanks for group invite, my girlfriend who plays a 50 enchanter is camping x mob right over there and she can come by and buff us every time clarity is fading. Also me and her will never move at the same time!"

or somebody just blatantly and shamelessly logging in their cleric or their enchanter or their wizard to rez/buff/port themselves and others... like they don't even bother hiding it. Saw a blatant boxer playing as 3 barbs the first day I rolled around Everfrost, all autofollowing each other around the zone using 1 to put the other 2 in position. It was so audacious I just had to laugh.

I reported most of these people of course. Other times it's hard because they only pop on for an instant to buff and then disappear. Many are people i'd grouped with and gotten to know and it seems a common theme is coming from TLP.

Green needs a serious inquisition.

I've watched this guy for months, and I hope this is true. Of all the 2-boxers I've met, he's the most brazen one and it makes me genuinely question whether or not GMs actively play on Green (I wouldn't blame them if they don't, I've been a Guide before and it doesn't leave a lot of room for actually enjoying the game). I hope they do a thorough investigation to see where the money went because the general consensus is that he RMTs. I know when I would complain to people in Lower Guk who were around him they would get really hostile, and it's hard to imagine they weren't either doing something similar or involved in it in some way.

The person logs on the character, buffs quickly, and then goes back to what they were doing. Not all buff situations are someone using a boxed toon to do it.

- For anyone questioning whether the staff enforce boxing because you think you see it happening I would say a couple of things. One, sometimes what looks like boxing isn’t; I’ve petitioned multiple people over the years who I was very sure were boxing only to have a staff member test them and have them be fine. Two, just because you see people boxing doesn’t mean the staff aren’t trying to enforce it; they’re volunteers with limited time doing what they can so unless they’re online to see it happening at that time there’s no a lot they can do. When I was CSR back on live we’d occasionally be asked to try and crack down on boxing under zone disruption theories whenever it was getting out of hand; you have to catch it live...you can have all the data you want showing IPs and computer IDs and other trends, but you have to catch them at it live which means there will always be some you miss.

aaaaaaah a few things about that statement. Not to call you out man, i came to post about something else on the TLP and the title caught my eye. I don't actually see anybody doing it.(banning them)

- At least 75% of the people in EC are botting merchants and porters and have been since day one of blue's launch.
- You can go this very second no matter when you read this and find somebody clearly botting at one of these spots- last floor of befallen, 3 way in UGuk, bonecracker tunnels in Najena. I wont even mention the higher end zones.

Since this whole thing got started its been enforced less and less. I understand the staff is voluntary, but lets be honest about the situation

I know what boxing looks like. The cases I'm talking about are ones where their movements and behaviors were highly indicative of boxing beyond a reasonable doubt.

Funny enough while people do have friends park their high lvls nearby and log in to buff, it can't be nearly as common as I encounter this situation in-game. Nevertheless it doesn't scream boxing to me til i watch their movements.

If there was a "magic switch" that disabled all active IP exemptions for 30 minutes at peak hour I wonder what the comparative EC population would be. Fairly sure I'd never find out, but it would be interesting to see whether that theory turns out to be pure tinfoil or real.

I’m always baffled by the overwhelming amount of people I meet who don’t know what a VPN is or how easy they are to use. My 76 year old dad who can barely turn a computer on still uses a VPN because he watches Alex Jones and it’s made him paranoid AF. My ex-girlfriend who has never played a video game in her entire life uses a VPN to keep from having her bandwidth throttled. So does my little sister.

In 2020 a VPN is not this complicated or mysterious thing. Using a VPN is easier than using a Discord (by a long shot) — you literally just install it and wool an. If you want to get fancy you can click on different geographical locations. It’s a very simple program.

1) No one is stalking you. You go to the most high profile camps you can and 2-box there. You make no attempt to hide the fact either, even from random people you just invited to your group.

1) Giving out free items sounds like a lot like RMT to me. And in my experience you were ridiculously greedy -- the type of person who tries to scam his own party members out of loot. I had grouped with you 2 times. The first time was in Mistmoore and you lied to me and Klide about having been in Mistmoore camping Dhamp for 12 hours, and that's why you deserved the HBC if it dropped (what you didn't know is that our friend, Hobith, had been at the camp... literally all day and said you were no where in sight).

The 2nd time we grouped together, we were alone, so the AFK characters became more obvious, especially when you started telling me to move to certain spots so you could heal me with Jaiger. This is literally when I typed /quit, and was genuinely paranoid that I was going to get banned for being in a group with you.

Not sure what I’m missing in that post but there don’t appear to be any comments about how to pass a two box test. The only thing that discusses getting away with boxing is talking about how people don’t get reported if they’re minding their own business in out of the way areas.

I spent probably the first 7 years of my adult life in direct combat. I was in the Sunni Triangle of Death and lived in the next tent over from Steven Green when the Mahmudiyah Rapes and Massacre took place. Remember pulling guard duty on him after he got arrested. They were keeping him at the local AID station since they didn't really have a Brig set up (we were in the process of building Camp Stryker at the time). The medics and I were watching Hills Have Eyes, and the culprit got really excited and started screaming "rape that bitch" during the one scene.

I was also there when Zarqawi was killed. Most of you all probably don't even remember who that is, but the feeling of retribution I got by bringing that monster to justice is something most people could live a thousand life times and never experience. Spent 4 days laying on my stomach watching the house, and had no clue he as inside. Was just told it's a HVT. 500 pound JDAM dropped on top of location with no warning.

Joining the ARMY does not make someone cool. Being Special Forces does not make someone cool. I joined. It was a long time ago. If I could go back in time, I wouldn't have enlisted. I very seldom recommend any young person enlist.

All of the kids I played this game with 20+ years ago are making six figures from the comfort of their office or home. Meanwhile I'm still doing manual labor like a dumbass with very limited career choices if I don't feel like being a police officer or prison guard. Joining the ARMY does not make someone cool. Being Special Forces does not make someone cool. I joined. It was a long time ago. If I could go back in time, I wouldn't have enlisted. I very seldom recommend any young person enlist.

All of the kids I played this game with 20+ years ago are making six figures from the comfort of their office or home. Meanwhile I'm still doing manual labor like a dumbass with very limited career choices if I don't feel like being a police officer or prison guard. Being able to say "well, I was in the ARMY" isn't as cool as saying "I went to college and got a degree, and now I have a decent job and career."

Why not use your GI bill to go to school for something if you don't like manual labor? And there are plenty of things where military service, regardless of what you did in the military, will give you a leg up- most federal and state jobs for example. Also very few of the kids you played with are making six figures unless you happened to play with a particularly high achieving bunch.

I did use my GI BILL to become a Paramedic. I didn't enjoy the job. I thoroughly enjoy the job I have now. It's the only job I've ever had where I actually have fun every single day I go to work. But I'm also 36 years old and very seldom see a climbing arborist over the age of 40, and have to be realistic about it.

And yeah, they were particularly high-achieving. You have to remember that most house holds in 1999 didn't have a computer, let alone internet access. Most kids who had access to a gaming computer, and their parents credit card (required to play this game) typically went on to be very successful in life. My next door neighbor is not only a pharmacist, he's over every single pharmacist in the region. My best friend who went into the Navy and became a Nuclear Engineer, got out and makes bank. Another kid is now a Psychology professor at VT and has been there long enough to have earned tenure. Another kid is a surgeon. Ironically two other friends who played with us have committed suicide since then.

I genuinely believe that EverQuest was an upper middle-class experience for most kids who were able to access it in 1999.

I'd say that's absolutely true about it being an upper middle class experience in general, and as evidenced on this very forum and community many went on to become software develops, sysadmins, etc. But I wouldn't say most. 2) Scouts "come" from HeadQuarters? No, the most elite Infantry soldiers get SENT to headquarters after being hand-selected and usually undergoing rigorous try-outs that require them to prove that they are better than their peers. Most are required to go to Ranger school and Sniper school within a year or they get the boot. The fact that you just tried to insult Scout (Snipers) by implying they are pussies is LOL.

3) What if I told you real scouts aren't even 11 Series at all? You've probably never even heard of 19Ds because you're an actual real POG (yes, you spelled it wrong).

4) I was deployed in 04, came back in 05, I was deployed in 06, came back in 07, I was deployed in 08, came back in 09, I was deployed in 09, came back in 2010 etc.
It's a lot easier to explain to people "I was there for about 7 years" when they ask me "when were you there?" Expecting me to give them a simple "2005" answer. That shit only happens to Reservists, not real soldiers who had a real MOS.

The snipers in the ARMY are generally part of the scout platoon in Head Quarters. They get called Scout Snipers because of this. Now... there are other sniper positions. And even other schools. I learned more from SOTIC than I did from Sniper school. Sniper school was mostly them training me how to sneak around the jungle like I was in Vietnam. SOTIC was teaching me how to shoot, and how to perform in real world modern conditions.

My cousin went to the first Gulf War (you know the one we won) and they made him drive a deuce through so much toxic smoke he got brain damage so when he came back he lost all his money on get rich schemes like sending people money so they would send him a pdf of a government form so he could apply for some scam loan. And you could tell too because he was pretty sharp before he deployed but afterwards it was just no good.

But I digress, he had trophies like you wouldn't believe. He had all the flags and patches and shit, but the motherload was a bunch of 23mm shells he pulled out of a Shilka. He actually came home with several coke bottle sized anti-aircraft shells in his duffel bag, it was insane.

One day she pulled a picture out to show her mother-in-law and found the money. Was hilarious.

Also knew armorers who would order parts for rifles and machine guns and mail them home piece by piece, and then assemble a complete weapon that was untraceable state-side. Was pretty easy to sneak certain things into shipping containers too. I legit slept with my night vision goggles tied to my belt with parachute cord, and stuffed into my cargo pocket because it was one of the most frequently stolen items because it was so small it was super easy to mail home.

Had a lot of insane pictures too. Was an 18 year old kid at the time. Had no idea that it was illegal. We'll just say I deleted the fuck out of those, and even physically destroyed the hard-drive they were on once guys started getting arrested, haha.

I remember when I first started using a computer I would peck at keys with two fingers, and was blown away at my mom being able to type 30-40 words per minute without looking at the keyboard. Without even trying, I almost overnight learned to type like a speed demon due to having to curse people out in LOIO and pull for my group at the same time. People in school thought I was some kind of super genius since typing was still a mandatory class at that time.
