The Grand Norrathian Tipsy Race Extravaganza

Hail fellow Norrathians!

It's time to get a little tipsy...

Me and my brother will be offering over 100k in cash/prizes to the winners of not one, but SEVEN Tipsy Race events all across Norrath. Each race will have a prize pool worth roughly 10-30k.

What is a Tipsy Race you might ask? A Tipsy Race is where you and as many of your friends that you can muster chug as much of the hooch as you can and then charge forth into the world with reckless abandon, throwing caution (and your pants) to the wind in an attempt to find rumored treasure in a nearby and most certainly dangerous dungeon.

Please join us on Saturday May 23rd, starting at 12 o'clock Noon EST at the entrance of Ak'Anon to kick off the festivities.

The race schedule is as follows:

Faydwer Tour
1.) Western Faydwer : Akanon (Gnome Racers) > Castle Mistmoore
2.) Central Faydwer : Kelethin (Wood Elf Racers) > Castle Crush
3.) Eastern Faydwer : Kaladim (Dwarf Racers) > Unrest Basement

4.) Northern Antonica : Halas (Barbarian Racers) > Lady Vox's Lair
5.) Central Antonica : Neriak (Dark Elf Racers) > Lord Nagafen's Lair
6.) Southern Antonica : Grobb (Troll Racers) > The Ghoul Lord's Throne

7.) Central Odus : Erudin (Erudite Racers) > Zales' Workshop

Tipsy Race Process
1.) Create a new, naked/unbuffed, lvl 1 character in the starting city (do not go anon/role).
2.) Turn in your Tomb of Order and Discord to the Priest of Discord.
3.) Stand in front of the Tipsy Race Starting Line Official and await your drink ticket (1p).
4.) Go buy your favorite poison at the local bar (immediately do not linger, do not drink yet).
5.) Rally at the Tipsy Race Starting Line Official when prompted (not before, dont crowd while drink tickets are being handed out).
6.) When prompted that the race has started chug as much as you can as fast as you can.
7.) After drinking, immediately proceed to the target finish area.
8.) Be the first to Hail the announced Tipsy Race Finish Line Official before time runs out to claim eternal glory.

Fine Print
- Prize winners will be verified against tipsy race officials logs.
- Must be on both Starting Line log with 5-6 drink messages and Finish Line log with a hail message.
- In the event of a server wipe, the closest racer(s) corpses will be awarded.
- Races will last at most 30min.
- If you die, you can attempt to re-enter the race (sober) from default bind point in newb area.
- Prizes will be handed out in the East Commonlands Tunnel.

I'm guessing level 1 characters unfortunately aren't going to be able to get to some of the destinations. I made a level 1 rogue a couple months ago to explore Mistmoore with, but it wouldn't let me zone in:

You are not yet experienced enough to pass through an inter-planar portal.

I think a level 5 minimum was added because people were rolling level 1s to somehow grief.

Upper Guk isn't though... and that looks like it could be interesting still so probably keep that but change the finish line to be AC.

not sure we want to give out 100k on a single race though, might have multiple winners on the race and then do something else as well, probably pvp oriented - maybe a newb battle royal and a tournament.

Also, is there anyway to delete / edit a thread on this forum?

We will be tailing the race with sow, logs and obs. We're going to know if someone cheezed and will simply disqualify them. The general rule of thumb that will be communicated in game is if you're doing anything but making a new char, drinking and running, you can assume you're doing something wrong and will be disqualified.

I'll ask if we can get the lvl restriction on the dungeons lifted, but sounds like it would be a dev thing and not something easily toggled by a GM. We will probably end up simply doing multiple (two?) troll races through guk and then replace the other events with arena stuff. we've been talking about what to do in arena, bare knuckle newb brawl was an idea. maybe a botb style tournament as well so people can participate on their mains.

Note - was discussed if we are going to end up having extra prizes to give out there may be a bonus prize for best newb name, so keep that in mind when making your racers and brawlers ;) In general, proper shenanigans will be rewarded - prizes for laughs if you will.

When I do races IRL theres checkpoints to stop shortcuts. Just have two corpses and a guy to hails everyone who passes between them. Vet every list of people on each checkpoint. Should take a short time after its over just like they do with real races. Make sure people dont keep going past a check without being hailed.

we were thinking of doing check points, but only two of us ;) One posted at the finish line, the other at the starting line that would kick off the race and then keep pace with the head of the racers was the initial thought there.
