View Full Version : The troll Urako is a female on P99 green and should be a male or is it a sign

Sign that I should have rolled an ogre shaman or a sign of the times ?

Truthfully. I don't know where to post it. Im not going to post any quest dialogue because it appears in many quests (and it might not be the appropriate forum).

But both on the wiki page and in the quest dialogue, the troll NPC Urako is a male. But P99 Green uses the troll female model.

Kind of a laugh. Like when I made my first character a dwarf 20 years ago and almost went with the bearded female.

GM suggested I post here.

Generally bugs have more success here if there is classic evidence.

If this is just a staff mistake this alone will be enough, but if there's any question of the correct gender, and you (or anyone else) can find an old (<2002) reference to Urako that shows that he/she should be a she, that would make this a "slam dunk".

FWIW Zam has two versions of her (because of the LoY invasion of Grobb), and both are female: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ_Mob:Urako_%28disambiguation%29

Not classic but ... it seems unlikely Verant changed her gender ...

Ah, appears to be just a slight staff mistake, as you mentioned then.

We can move this thread over or keep it here, whatever is best.

All of the he/his/him in that NPC speech refer to Kaglari (http://wiki.project1999.com/Kaglari), who is also a female Troll. Not sure what to think.

That's not what I am reading in the screenshot I posted. Urako tells you in one "speech" that Kaglari had asked Urako not to open "HIS closet". And the NPC URAKO is female. But yes, either way. You are right. They are both female NPC's on P99 Green, correct.

The closet belongs to Kaglari. That's why Urako didn't know there's a skeleton in it. If anything, the dialog implies Kaglari should be male, but doesn't indicate anything about Urako's sex.

Ah, it appears you are not reading or understanding then.

I am here posting a bug or something that has not been dealt with

that is all.

I'm not trying to piss you off. Urako works for Kaglari. That's why Kaglari is making Urako clean Kaglari's quarters.

Anyway, yeah, one or both of these characters should be male, or the dialog should be changed.

No need. Just trying to find clarity and the truth. Good on you for making a bug report.

This isn't a competition, so really there's no reason for anyone to get pissed off at anyone <3

We're all trying to get the closest version of how things were back in '99, but evidence from '99 isn't straightforward (not to mention pronouns in English can be ambiguous), so reasonable people can disagree. Let's just do so respectfully and remember we're on the "same team".

Yes, I had never played a troll or a shaman. I think I covered a lot of things in my posts here on these forums. Stating im new to P99 and the forums and I don't know what section to post in (Quest or NPC). I mentioned that I talked to some GM's regarding this and made a post about something that I was certain was a bug.

I had to backtrack once I saw these replies by Videri. But that's ok... to double check things and who knows, we miss things that are glaringly obvious at times ;)

One thing that helped was the references to Zam. I had totally forgot (not that these resources exist) but that I could backtrack and utilize them.

Sometimes I will still go to EQTC and ZAM in addition to the Wiki. :o

As one of the biggest fans of the wiki in this place, I'm obviously biased ... but IMHO Zam (and EQTC) should pretty much only be necessary for bug research like this. For 99.9% of P99 content, the wiki is as accurate (or just as likely, even more accurate) than whatever is on Zam.

P.S. And also:

Good on you for making a bug report.

Many new people are reticent to do so, but bug-filing is how we help the devs make things more classic here.

So we know they both appeared as females in classic. The archived Everlore Grobb quests always referred to "she/her" for both Urako and Kalgari.

If there is evidence the script changed since classic, then we could correct it. Otherwise the mistake was probably classic.
