View Full Version : Level 50 Camping Low/Mid level camps?

For the past several weeks I've noticed quite a few low/mid level camps have been monopolized by level 50s. Often they will camp for days on end. Is this even allowed or can any level 50 permacamp spots for gear they can't even use?

Rogues could have trouble depending on the camp for sure.

I don't think you understand the question.

Uhhh, is there a reason why camping an item after you hit level 50 shouldn’t be allowed?

You should try red99, or firiona vie TLP they have trivial loot code, well red doesn't... but you can fight them for it )

@nizmerthafen yes they can.

it is simple: If they following the rules of the server then by all means a level 50 can sit at level 20 camp if he or she wishes and camp it till he decides to stop(Again following the server rules).

You always can ask nicely and see if he/she is willing to give up the camp or share it.

You must be new here.

Exactly what camp are you talking about? That will help determine the answer to your question. But in general, depending on the item(s) in question, levels mean nothing at all. And "need" is so subjective here.

Low levels should fight level 50's for low level camps? That'll work out well.

It's classic, there are other games with instancing, etc.

THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN ON RED....

Because nobody fucking plays there.

Yes. Because if the level 50 cannot camp for item X because of their class not being a solo class, mob always camped, etc. they can always camp a level 30 mob they do find open for item Y fifty times, and sell fifty item Ys to be able to afford one item X.

Multiply that out many times across Norrath, include a similar situation for raiding, and that's why instancing came about in MMORPGs.

Log into RED ... If you want a camp someone's at, kill their ass and take it. Problem / Action / Solution

Bam! Or..... You can come here and cry.

Out of curiosity, how would that help a level 25 player trying to farm a level 20 mob that is being killed by an AFK 50 mages pet?

Even on red, level 50's camp level 20 mobs for the loot to sell (or at least they did back when Red wasn't dead).

This issue with high level players taking all of the low level camps also leads to fewer groups in dungeons. You have 1 level 50 sitting at every camp in lguk, which means there is nothing for a group of level 35's to do. Because of this, everyone just solo grinds to 50 in the open world and then at 50 realizes there isn't anything to do and those same guys who were camping, for example, "FBSS" 3 months ago are still sitting there.

I know it's not classic, but they did fix this problem for Nagafen and Vox shortly after Kunark came out by making it so only players of a certain level could do the raid for loot. Perhaps remove all loot drops off green mobs, similar to what happens when you kill a merchant.

If it's a camp, ask to be put on list and ask the status of the list. GMs will enforce this. Search "camps" and "camp rules" on Wiki for more info.

If the player is socially adjusted they will move on after you talk to them.

On occasion you run into the problem people who should be in red. You know, those that would camp all of the ircs inside TR in CB at 50 to farm belts and pads.

Most 50s are real people who understands play nice and move to something else, esp if it's a lowbie group.

It’s a gameplay loop. You acquire pixels to help you acquire more pixels. Such patterns are self reinforcing and as such are very addictive. Addiction will always express itself, leading to progressively more extreme behaviour which is why these people are behaving in the way they do.

They are going to play Everquest, regardless of any other factor, and will jump through extremely time consuming hoops for even the most marginal reward as it is the only way to perpetuate that positive feedback cycle.

Low levels should fight level 50's for low level camps? That'll work out well.

On red99 we just log in an epic'd rogue we have logged out at each level range in each zone. Although rangers with skybows r getting popular. N I guess 3 old school pvpers rolled pallies today.

Needless to say, the way to settle a dispute is to level into range. If a higher up is there, there's no stopping them n it's generally our problem if we don't level elsewhere or come back with our own higher level buddies or out of range healers.

Back in the day we'd all have our druid buddies logged in unrest, n sometimes that'd escalate to people logging in their big hitter war, sk, Wiz, rogue alts, n we'd have 2v2 high lvls n 1v3 low lvls.

Really big bragging rights if someone could sneakily snipe a lowbie protected by a higher up healer. A pair of rogues or wizards always good for this :)
