So we went on an adventure in Nagafen's lair looking for lost pages from the great tomes of Odus.
And we met Bruce.
He wasn't like the other fire giants. In fact, Bruce wasn't mean at all. He had a mind for business. He had political goals and a plan for action.
He told us of a plan he had made to rip the extremely valuable shell off of one of the spiders below his family's castle. The shell was from a spider that he said was completely immune to magic. This would pose no problem for him, as he was... suffice to say... a DUNDERING IDIOT in the ways of the arcane. He made up for it with raw strength and calculated planning. Bruce, you see, was a shoe in for the next Warlord election. But to prove himself, he had to not only show his might, but also tactical prowess.
We were won over by Bruce's plan to seize the powerful spider shell and realized we compensated for one of his shortcomings and he compensated for ours. Because the spider was immune to arcanery, there would be little we could do to to kill it. This is where Bruce came in. He assured us that he would smash the spider and allow us to extract the shell. In return, we would take care of the swarms of spiders that often caused him great pain and drove him off in his attempts.
At first, we questioned why such a mighty and fiery warrior as Bruce would have problems with the spiders in the lair. They clearly had some kind of lava for blood and venom, which should have posed no problem for him. That's when we noticed the number of bites covering Bruce and the rotten skin that covered his back and legs. Bruce had made countless attempts to prove himself and had been forced to retreat far too many times. In fact, Bruce told us he didn't have many more attempts in him. The doctor fire giants told him his organs had sustained far too much damage despite his resilience to the venom.
So a deal was made with the Dark Men of Odus. We would control the swarms of spiders that had plagued Bruce's efforts to prove himself a mighty Warlord. We would claim the spider shell. And we did. Bruce cornered that spider and pounded it into the wall and ground, over and over while the entranced spider brood gazed on in total stupor.
Bruce would go on to become a more fearsome Warlord than Skarlon had ever been. He would slay many Seal Team, Lineage, Venerate, Black Lotus and Kingdom.
One day, you may get to meet him...
