Warriors on green server

I'm just wondering...

I recently came back to EQ after initially playing from about 1999 to 2002. College and struggling to launch a career during the economic recession really put a cramp in my ability to play video games...

Anyway, I had a wood elf warrior back in the day and only got to about 33 or so but after thinking about it for awhile, I caved to the idea of a barby warrior. However, instead of making a Barby warrior myself I decided to make a half elf bard in Qeynos in order to enable others, eheh. I recall grouping with bards long ago and being really blown away by how much they help and turn sorties into grindfests.

However, I don't think I've run into a single Barby warrior since I've started playing again last November.

I'm level 13 now and hunting bandits and I thought I'd surely run into a few Barby warriors in blackburrow, but nay. All the barbs are shaman.

So, I'm curious, what happened to the Barby warrior? Are they all over in kelethin? Do players go straight for OGRES on the pve server? Are warriors not worth the effort?

Play what you want to play and enjoy the journey. If you run into people that talk or act like that have been farming root nets for days on end, just move along. There is a lot of fun to be had and a ton of cool people to enjoy the journey with.

I got a woodelf warrior to 33 on Blue and plan to start one on green once I get my Druid to 50. Fun class. Racial hide and forage. Plus cool armor graphics. Or you can go for halfling war for the XP bonus. Like ppl said play what you like!

Eh, halflings have like 25-30 more important stat points than woodies and get sneak. Unless you are playing a druid or cleric and just want to get rez/ports, you don't pick halfling for exp bonus.

It's almost certainly because at this point there is so much knowledge about the game that people go the min/max route.

Ogres are definitely the best race for Warriors from that perspective. They get frontal stun immunity, which is big for tanks, and their stats are easily the best, which is important for Warriors since they are so much more gear dependent than other tanks.

Trolls get regen, which is of course helpful.

That's not to say that Barbarians are unviable as tanks by any means. They're definitely a decent choice. But a lot of people pick Ogres for the reasons above.

Wood elves get a dodge bonus? I’ve never heard of that...

Ogres make the best tanks in classic, bar none. FSI, and starting stats. In later expansions, stats can get maxed for nearly any character, but FSI is still very much valued.

Iksar are next on the list for best tank, especially for Velious when they actually have options to wear plate armor. Their natural regen, and their racial AC bonus that is stacked on top even after reaching AC cap per level.

Not to mention that a warrior isn't likely soloing very much, so the bonus is mostly shared with groupmates rather than significantly speeding your leveling.

god dammit. i specifically made a half elf bard and started in qeynos to group with barbarian warriors and there aren't any. i should've started in kelethin... i can't cross highpass without getting destroyed and i can't get my lull song or charisma song, and my purpose is non existent. god dammit...

and i wish i was japanese and rich too, and lived in tokyo, and was living off dividends from a mess of microsoft and facebook stock, and had 3 really hot girlfriends that were really interesting and artsy on top of really hot.

I chose halflin warrior, wished I would’ve did troll for regen since I just casually solo and duo group when asked. Love the hide skill since I afk quit often.

Affects: Dodge, Defense, Avoidance Armor Class*, Parry?, Run speed (below 75).
Agility determines how much melee damage enemies inflict. Above 75, the AC provided for each Agility is slight. Below 75 agility causes a large AC hit. For example, on a level 60 ogre SK, going from 76 to 85 AGI provides 3 AC. But going from 66 to 75 AGI provides 45 AC.
Max (cap): 255 ?

It's generally agreed on that AGI has very minimal effects on gameplay as long as it is at least 75, and that it is one of the least important stats to increase for any character.

So to answer your question, yes definitely go for AC over Agility EXCEPT don't let your Agility drop below 75.

If I play a halfling, it's for the hide and sneak on a class that doesn't normally have either of those.

Halfling velious armors are pretty cool too, imo.

The true, just ogre warriors are main tanks in uber guilds, why max stamina are never easy, and for the frontal stun inmunity, if you no care being the main tank with loot priority, race non matter. I played a troll warrior in life and enjoyed alot all the content being the secondary or terciary tank, "you are the only who wish the main tank dead to take some action"

Ogre, Troll, Barb, and Dwarf fit the class.

Humans, elves, and those between are acceptable.

Gnomes and halflings are races that have no business as warriors. Just like ogres and trolls shouldn't be wizards or enchanters.
