...really bro? There are not enough mobs to go around during peak hours normally, and with a bard AOE kiting everything in site it's that much longer between down times.
From the looks of it, someone is two boxing their Iksar alts.

Bards kiting every spawn and taking an age to kill them is one of the ultimate forms of douchebaggery in EQ

The original reason AE kiting was nerfed for bards is cause everyone had sore pussies over how many mobs a bard could kill and how easy it was. Same reason charm was nerfed on here, same reason druid DoT stacking is fucked on here. SO MANY SORE VAGINAS

I thought those nerfs were to make the game classic? Nerfing bards wouldn't be the same.

The world of Norrath is very large. If you find that Bards are (legitimately) locking down a zone, you could try a different one, or just play a Bard. They shouldn't be taking an age to kill those mobs either - in fact in all of my experiences, even if you account for the time it takes to pull them, a normal group of mobs being aoe kited takes less time per kill than most pet classes soloing and probably most groups. Feel free to conveniently ignore this in your next post however.

Bards tend to lock 30 mobs down for at least 2, if not 3 spawn cycles in areas that are 7-8 min repops. Preventing 4-5 other solo classes from getting 10-15 kills each (who would be doing 5-6 mobs per cycle) in that same amount of time.
So yeah, they piss people off because they kill 30 mobs in the time that others could have killed 40-60.

I played a Bard on Live to very high levels. AOE Kiting in high populated (populated by PCs killing) areas is asshattery at the highest order. I never did that. I always picked places out of the way.
It is difficult at times to find places to AOE kite, non casting mobs, which are what Bards are after.

You don't see me complaining when I see a Shaman or an SK camping seafuries, when I kill the mobs much faster. And besides, it shouldn't take three spawn cycles for a Bard to aoe kite 30 mobs.

The bard definitely wasn't getting xp from the mobs he was killing, nor was he targeting any specific mob type. He wasn't farming for bone chips; he was simply running around with a billion mobs hitting him, sometimes letting them beat on him for a few moments. I followed him around for a couple minutes, and he didn't cast one DoT AoE, and he had well over 40+ mobs nicely clustered for kiting . . .he just never started hitting them.
Epicly is a piece of shit, but then again, it's not difficult to simply move to another area, or log for a while.

Poorly worded- meant he wasn't getting xp because he was too high lvl anyway.

Little bit of a difference between killing 1 mob slowly and killing 30 mobs slowly.

If you kill 30 mobs slowly in the time that another person would have killed 40 or even 60, I really don't think that's so unforgivable. That's comparable to the situation of a Shaman camping seafuries since they kill half as many mobs as a mage would, and 30:60 is the same ratio as 1:2.

Dear Taryth,
40 mobs is a bit of an exaggeration, I would say the number sat around 20 on most pulls. I was powerlevelling 7 people today, but I suppose it was only 2-3 yesterday. If you'd like to join in sometime, just send me a tell, and you're absolutely welcome to take down a mob that will stay aggro locked to me because of my aoe-slow anyways. There's little I'd be able to do to stop you even if I wanted to.
You COULD send me a tell, even express dissatisfaction in /ooc so we can work something out as far as pull areas are concerned...
OR
You could be more passive-aggresive than an EC trader and call me a piece of shit on the boards because I made you run 30 feet further to make your next pull.
Have a nice day!

P.S. Bard pullers die when you don't buff them post-rez, homes. I took those Drolvarg/Wraith Rapes like a man, regardless, don't be frontin'.

Strike a nerve, did I? I honestly didn't think the post was that big of a deal, not enough to warrant it as passive aggressive behavior. I stated at the end, in the very sentence I called you a piece of shit, that avoiding the issue was of little inconvenience . . .you may want to respond to the OP, though, as he seemed genuinely upset ;)

My, and I believe others', gripe isn't as much about the *speed* of death by bard-kite, its the manner.
Here's a scenario:
I'm on my necro, or shaman, I'm pulling one, *possibly* chaining a second seafury, and killing them one at a time, meaning I've only tied up ONE spawn-point at any given time, as the first one is fully Dot'd and has a pet on it, the other is getting Dot'd up and will soon have a pet on it. So I'm killing each one as fast as my spells allow.
A Bard, or even a druid/wiz quad kiting on the other hand has the ability to simply aggro several and since they all die at or near the same time he or she has tied up every spawnpoint they pull for approximately the same time.
Look at it this way,
4 pet classes each pull one seafury at a time and kill it in 60 seconds. They all die at different times, so the respawn timer starts then and they all respawn at intervals. all 4 players run around the island looking for more pops.
A bard rolls up and pulls one seafury, since it's silly to kill only one, he just runs around the island gathering up several more... all the while the first one he aggroed is 'claimed' and the spawnpoint is tied up....he takes 3-4 minutes to gather up let's say 5 mobs, and he proceeds to kill them all in 6 minutes of kiting.
Now you want to argue that since you only took 6 minutes to kill 5 mobs you're just as efficient as pet classes, but you overlook the fact that the first one you pulled was effectively kited for 10... the second for maybe 9, and so on....You are holding the whole island hostage.
