Even if the indie developer scene moves from 8bit into the late 90's/early 2000s era we probably still won't see another. EQ was a 'AAA' title before that became a thing. When the industry was making and trying new things instead of focusing a formula for investors. Any big games are not made for computers but we can use them. Funny how PC gaming was even a thing, such as a game like EQ being made.

Besides, Chinese is the top language for STEAM now. More will be focused for them, so you can forget traditional D&D things coming forward. They have aversions to graveyards, skeletons, big titty females and dudes built like Arnold.

Fantasy is a bunch of skint head androgynous women with boring gameplay, artstyles and stories. Usually built on one of three game engines because the industry has painted itself into a corner were options are nil.

I played just shortly before Kunark came out, and didn't know anything about ZEMs, and so the vast majority of zones I've been frequenting on teal for xp are zones I barely or never touched on live.
