My wife and I were just wondering how long it took you to get approved? I know this is totally a first world problem, and it's not like we are going to quit if it doesn't happen today lol. We've just been waiting three days and didn't know what to expect.

Thanks ahead of time for any insights!!

I apllied for one about 8 years ago, early days of P99, and it took literally hours. I think right now is a bad time, because of the new servers, The list items, issues being delivered, patch scheduals, launches coming soon, and multiple other reasons. Its like ordering something from china during the chinese new year lol, its gonna take awhile. Just sit tight and they will get back to you.

When I applied I think it took a few weeks. That was a while ago though (when ever this forum account was created)

Ive heard days to months and its done in batches. One guy said his was 6 months like a year ago but that seems unlikely now

If you don't get one within a month, then I'd be concerned, but otherwise they do them in "batches" so you need to be patient.

Don't be surprised if you have to wait 60+ days like I did.

Was wondering the same. I just put in a request as my daughter has taken interest in playing with me. Can't wait!

your kids really are so excited to play a 20 year old elf sim.. screams botting or something absurd. Anyone i have shown everquest to or mentioned said the game has the worst graphics and looks boring as fuck. Most ip expempts are people boxing and having a roomate friend or sig other run figure 8's for gm tests.... really tho your kids are not all excited like its xmas day to play everquest... but gm's will grant you one anyway im sure

I put in for one as my wife agreed to try it out. She's never played before so who knows if its interesting to somebody in 2020 w/o previous eq experience or not.

Love the negativity from people about IP Exceptions. The game's still a fun game - just because we want our loved ones to try it doesn't mean we're trying to bot. Good lord people are jaded.

I didn't say 100% of people applying for IP exemptions are doing it so they can exploit it. I also didn't mean to imply that. The real number's probably closer to something like 70%.

Once had someone bring on two characters just to give me a SoW just so I could get back to the group a couple minutes faster. Thought he was going to at least log out of the character he was on to bring in the other, but nope. Just casually exploiting his IP exemption to give me a SoW I didn't even need.

While it may or may not be true that most IP exemptions are abused, there are certainly people from households that play together. My 16 year old daughter wants to play with me too after she saw "you can turn into a wolf" and kill things. So not believing just because you're cynical doesn't automatically make you correct.

I havent applied yet because it's a PIA to get EQ onto her Apple laptop. I need an external CD player besides figuring out a platform I've never worked with.

who buys an apple laptop LOL idiot

Kids who are into visual arts stuff. I bought her a Dell and 6 months later she used her own money to buy an Apple.

Grats on calling a 16 year old girl an idiot who is most likely smarter than you are.

Yes. I applied for an exemption so I could play with my daughter. It took a few days for the reply but was easy enough.

How do you know your IP exemption is granted? Do you just have to keep trying to login on the two computers until it lets you? It's been over a week so far and i'm just wondering if they send a message or post on my petition thread or if i just keep trying.

The GM’s replied saying that it was granted and left a reminder that dual boxing is forbidden and will result in banning.

They will reply to your thread and let you know. It will also get moved to the "resolved" section.

How did you apply for the IP exemption? Here in a thread? I messaged Rogean and another GM personally. Havent heard anything yet. :-( I would like my grandson to play with me sometimes and our ISP doesnt give us another IP address? I dont understand all of it exactly. Someone said VPN but that looks way to complex.

Good luck to us all. lol

How long is the exemption requests taking currently? With the corona virus I've been WFH and watching some twitch streams of everquest made me nostalgic and I talked to my brother and some friends about it and we are wanting to play together. Unfortunately my brother and I live together so it's kind of like the old days when we were growing up and only had 1 computer to play on

Based on the timing of Joyelle's posts, looks like 2 - 3 weeks, maybe? I'm guessing it has to do with timing and how often they process the batches of IP exemptions. It's probably a manual process because of the nature of the request, so they probably let them accumulate a bit before working them.

Two days ago, I applied for one for my SO and I. We're stuck inside for the most part and she tried EQ a bit an seems to like it! So we're gonna start a Druid and Paladin duo. Hopefully they get processed soon, cause we're itching to play together.

You can install a free VPN like Windscribe on one of the computers to be able to play at the same time. I did that till my wife's exemption came through.

They've always done em in batches, so you'll just have to wait. Seems like alot more active GMs now so you wont have to wait that long, just be patient

:( My 5 year old son is starting to get into playing video games like this. He loves Roblox and is getting much better at his keyboard and mouse skills. He wanted to play EQ with me when we watched a few videos on YouTube and I told him about how I use to play with my dad when EQ launched.

I submitted a request a few days ago. Your response does not instill confidence that we will get to play Classic EQ together.

Got mine last night, it took one week.

Now i am hoping my friend is realy going to play. He is more in WoW Classic atm.

The graphix are turning him off a bit but hopefully he takes his time and he will enjoy.

If we play together it maybe gives him a shot.

I submitted one on the evening of the 25th to be able to play on blue server with my dad and haven't yet been approved, this and above posts lead me to think that the batching theory doesn't apply anymore. I imagine another 3 or 4 days for me is all, don't give up hope if anyone else is currently waiting.

It was about 6 months. We quit because my roommate was new to the game and we couldn’t play together. Guess they got the last laugh because we are back playing again.
