I remember back in the day on classic camping the guard that spawns near the Lavastorm zone line. I remember there being a spot there somewhere where you could safely med. Well I arrived there this morning and the guard is at the perfect level for me to camp. I killed him a couple of times but then promptly died near the zone line by an iron Guardian. I noticed now that these guys were roam all over that area. Is there no safe place to med around there anymore? If so where is it?

Sounds like you underestimated the Teir’Dal and paid the price.

People that camp it tend to just sit by the zone line in sight of the guard spawn. You will have to concern yourself with people training the golem to zone. I dont believe that happens all too often. Most are Dubious+ or know to avoid them.

That is what I was doing. Sitting in site of the guard spawn, in the path that leads to lavastorm. Guardians would come from behind me so I moved up a little and to the right of the guard and that is where I got killed.
No golems path to the side of the zone toward the water. Just pull guard that way

It sounds like you're sitting on the wrong side of the guard. Sit on the other side, nearer to the Lavastorm zone line. It's not 100% safe, but the golems don't path that way unless trained as far as I know.

No, that is what I meant by path. I meant the corridor behind the guard that leads to lavastorm. That is where I was sitting and Guardians would come from behind me, from the direction of Lavastorm. And I certainly didn't see anyone trained him there.

I believe one of the guardians paths there regularly. I have no idea whether it’s supposed to, but it currently behaves that way on P99.
It seems like a difficult thing to prove how this was back in 1999, unless someone wrote about that very camp on some old website.
Maybe you can find a different med spot, perhaps up on the wall?

When in classic did you camp him? The golems got removed after a point.

I did get up on the wall as far as I could get but you can't get very high. I was afraid that I was still in agro range. Maybe I should have stayed there though.

I'm not sure. I think that I started playing in 2000.

I camped these on blue back in the day. You could just med on the hill straight behind the static spawn guards, in line with the rock. If you went up on the hill you were typically safe all the way up. I would still hide when AFK in case some one accidently trained too close. Otherwise, it was a non-issue. Wonder if this changed on Green/Teal?

Are you talking about the same guard that I am, the one in front of Lavastorm zone? If so, I don't recall seeing a hill behind the spawn. There is some weird rock formation directly behind him but it would be in agro range. The only other thing behind his spawn is the Lavastorm zone. I'm at work but when I get home I'll look around a bit and see if I can find a safe place.

I'm pretty sure they were gone by then. All they ever did was run around kill-stealing from dark elf noobs, so they were taken out.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. Yes, that's exactly the guard I'm talking about. If you go straight back from the rock that's directly behind the guard spawn towards the Lavastorm zone and travel up the wall (what I was calling hill). You don't need to head all the way down to the zone line, just up that wall. This way you're directly in the line of sight for the guard spawn, but out of agro range of the Iron's. It's a great little afk camp for decent exp and bronze. You can run to the Gypsies in Lavastorm to sell when you get full or heavy.

Yup, if you have your back against the wall looking at the rock just tuck yourself into the corner as high up as you can. The golem will path right past you, did this camp a month ago. That’s the spot you want to sit

I did find the spot I think. The golem paths and stops right next to you but does not agro. But damn he is close. I feel like one little slip down that hill and I'm dead. I did notice that they do agro if they happen by the guard and I have him rooted or anything. Thanks for the help everyone. I'll camp here for a while and see what happens.
