View Full Version : Toxic Players on Green
Honestly - where are they? I see lots of threads or comments complaining about them but virtually everyone I've run into on Green has been genuinely nice. I say virtually because some are new and aren't aware of things most of us accept as common knowledge such as camp rules and whatnot, but even then once they're provided a polite explanation they've been more than cordial.
Where's all this toxicity then? In my opinion it's your fault in the first place. Remember that text doesn't carry tone well so be careful in what you say and read it to yourself before smashing enter so you can be sure it doesn't deliver the wrong message.

It's mostly at the "competitive" end where people MUST have the best items of every type and who are willing to go to, by any definition, completely crazy lengths to get them. Avoid the associated camps and you don't need to cross paths with them much. And that obviously means much if not all of the raiding activity means dealing with those people.
Somebody else said it was like they were literally raised by wolves in a forest because of the extent of lack of understanding of basic courtesy and the rules of discourse. I think of them more as people who work so hard at being dicks that it's not like they wear their dickness on their arm, it's like they're so covered with dicks that they look like giant dick amoebas.
Thankfully there's a whole big fun world out there that doesn't involve raiding or /list camps, and the people playing that game all seem to be good folks.

If you stay off the competitive path in eq your experiences tend to be wildly more friendly in general, regardless of the server. If you go to the highest value camps then you're guaranteed to run into social outcasts.

I've been pretty competitive (jboot, guise, named camps in lguk, etc.) and I don't see much toxicity either.
If someone says there are assholes everywhere they go, it's likely that they are the asshole and everyone is just responding in kind. Similar to how women who say they "hate drama" are virtually always drama queens.

Mix of crazy P99 players wanting those high value camps and more modern MMO players who have never had to exist in a non-instanced world and therefore never had to learn how to treat other players in game.

Lots of competition, and a few misunderstandings, but haven't seen toxicity in HK. Been there for a month almost.

I've seen only a handful of consistently toxic players - they are typically the hyperactive type that keeps spouting in chat about bull shit that no one cares about. They most often play Monks and they feel they are 'better' at the game than others because they can FD away mistakes. But 99% of the people I have played with identify as adults who like Ever Quest and we have been having great fun.

I have also noticed now that the "I DID IT FIRST" races are over, the server as a whole is becoming much more community vs me me me me and the aforementioned hyperactive-monk-scumlords are becoming even less common

More like toxic players on Teal.
That's where they went. I should have known Teal would become a bunch of 50's just wanting to solo as many camps as they can get, and then throw shade at you in guild chat when you take a whole group trying to xp at one of "their' camps like they own the damn zone.
Sounds like Green is the place to be.

Honestly the only toxicity ive noticed on teal is in HHK and it’s mostly just dickhead face pullers who think lower levels in zone are in the nobles groups way since obviously every mob in the zone is theirs. Bosh and bosec? Yeah I’m gonna train them up the stairs over you fighting Fulton. What do you mean he agrod your enchanter pet? That’s your fault!

I play a 50 on both.
I can assure you green is a toxic shithole full of absolute terribles. There's 10 or 12 great/amazing players in seal team, the rest are complete garbage and I'm thankful I have no need to group with them ever again.
Teal is just a shithole full of Kingdom 2/3manning every single camp. But at least they don't train you out of camps etc like seal team do.

Praise be to teal, a shithole to be sure, but a non-toxic one. Our shit has been neutralized. Apply to < Tell a Port > today!

From my travels of Odus across Norrath i have encountered many many toxic things, so many to list. the most egregious being the gate keeping of certain mobs by people's own guildies, forcing them to buy them instead in the tunnel. That shit blows this Erudite's large head right open. I wouldn't want to be in a guild that holds down camps forcing their own members to camp plat in order to buy the items from them, instead of sharing the game, you know. As guildies should. But unfortunately i have seen quite the few bad apples.

McCoy, I am with you 99% of the way. I do not meet alot of bad people. I typically approach situations with people as reasonably as I can be and try to start and end conversations politely and it seems I dont run into to many people I would call "toxic" or anything similar to that. You and i have crossed paths on many occasions and you come across as a simular personality as I. So this is likely the reason you dont find many of these bad guys.

Most of it is probably people going to contested/highly popular camps and trying to force their way in and then complaining that the other people are "toxic" because they won't let them

I can definately agree with that. Like I said more often than not a good attitude and willingness to compromise with people will go a long way. I do frequent some of the contested camps and the same goes at these camps. Just be willing to work with people and you will find more often than not good results come from this. If the person seems like they are going to be a dick about it then go about your Kerry self and dont let it bother you. Making a RNF post with their name feeding the trolls is just about as useless as it sounds.
