View Full Version : Teal feels dead
Sorry but it's true. A bunch of people will jump in here and explain why i'm wrong and how they have tons of people to group with or whatever, but this is just my opinion. Barely hitting 700 people right now, hard to buy anything in ec. Hard to group if you arent level 20-40. Feels dead to me or at least not what I was looking for in a fresh server. Blue was way more active at different points in its life cycle so I'm kinda not feeling this. Teal has actually made me miss the tlp server which I thought I'd never say.

Blue has done fine for itself with far less than 700 at multiple points throughout it's life.

At those times I accepted the low population and played in spite of it because I loved the game. In this case they created this by splitting the servers. Feels dumb.

Nah, Teal is great.
700 is absolutely the sweet spot when it comes to classic EQ, any more and you spend more time looking for a camp than you do playing the game.
Roll a toon on Green if you want to play on a crowded mess of a server.

Green isn't even crowded now either. Kinda sucks actually across the board.

Green is approaching 1000 players right now, on a weeknight. That is more than enough. I was hardcore against the split when they proposed it but even I came to see that classic content just can't handle the numbers that green and teal's population combined was. And they will re-merge if population ever becomes an issue. Staff made the right call for sure.

Why the hell would you want to play on a over crowded server? That shit is fucking awful. That week before the servers split was literally one of the worst times I've had playing p99.
Splitting is the best call the devs ever made.

Functionally, the game is more playable in this state that's true. However, it's lacking that energy that you get when it's a new fresh server. I remember when I was leveling in south ro with 50 people in the zone... and it was overwhelming and difficult to kill anything. But I'm nostalgic for it now and it happened only 2-3 weeks ago.

So... you want the game to be pretty much unplayable so that the server has some vague "energy" that you're nostalgic for after three weeks.
Dumb.
Super dumb.

Daybreak should make a TLP server that runs for 2-3 weeks and then starts over again on a continuous cycle. They could call it "The Fresh Server" or something like that.
On green, we're still scrabbling for cracked staffs in some of the newbie yards ( I level slowwww) during normal play times. Though the snakes and beetles are pretty much open game these days.

Midweek is always slowest but it'll still get close to 900 at peak. Weekends it's 1000+.
Opposite opinion here. I'm getting frustrated playing on Teal because there are too many ppl. Ill have 4 hrs to play and log on and spend 2-3 hrs just traveling around looking for a group or looking for a camp not taken.
I've also all but given up on my Paladin, who I intended to main on Teal, because sitting LFG for 2+hrs a day lately with no bites. Idk kinda thinking about not playing EQ anymore but we all know how strong the addiction is.

Send tells and form the group yourself. If you just sit and wait, you're in for disappointment.

i like teal but the EC is useless there, no one buys anything and no one sells anything worth over 200pp
if I could go back to green at this point I would

I really enjoy Teal's current population - it's hard to get a camp but not impossible 30+, but you're right that Teal's EC is fucking garbage.
If you combined the servers right now it would be a nightmare. There isn't nearly enough content 40+ in classic to support a server with 2k people on it. Even with 1000 and that being ahead of the curve, it's rough.

This, I remember when kunark released on live, my server had an average population of prolly 1700. Before kunark entire groups were camping like 2-3 mobs at a time, and you were lucky to get 2-3 spawns. Uguk would have 100 people in it, could literally afk almost anywhere in any dungeon in safety. Knowing that someone would kill anything that spawned anywhere near you within seconds of it spawning. I do not miss that part of my "classic" eq experience, at all.

Talk about feeling dumb. You shouldn't of played on teal if you cared so much.

Ever since the new servers were spun up people have been complaining about the dumbest shit.
If you are just doing /who all searches while forlornly gazing across the pond in North Qeynos, you probably should realize that many folks are in /anon or /role for various reasons.

Unless you are on at some really off hours compared to the primetime of the server you'll find all the high ZEM zones full like what the OP wants. When you have folks logging on early just to try and get favorable camps you know that the server is still alive and kicking.
I think the population on teal is fine and will remain fine.

I recommend going to play and get your own upgrades vs EC pay to win. What's the point of playing if you buy all of your gear?

I never have problems starting groups. The vast majority of people want to group but are to lazy to be resourceful and look for parole and send tells to start groups.
I'm batting 1.000 for groups on Teal regardless where I decide to go.
People whining about not being able to find a group on Teal need to try harder. There's more than enough content, but you need to bring your own group. There aren't many static PUGs around: SolB royals, BnB, all of LGuk aside from ass/sup, all of CT except AoF, I haven't seen PUGs and are usually open. Go camp'em!

I mean I agree with you, but I remember flagging this when the merge was being my discussed. That everyone was just going to pack into the usual places and refuse to go off the beaten path because they have to bring their own group as opposed to players already being there by virtue of the server being crowded. This isn’t surprising that these complaints are happening now from people who wanted Teal in the first place.

The problem to me I feel like is that whenever I want to try a good solo camp spot, it seems like anything and everything worthwhile is already going to be perma camped by someone else all the time - so it feels then like you wish there were less people.
But then when you want to get a group, it can be hard to find enough people to get a group going - so then it feels like there aren't enough people...
So it just sucks all the time, feeling like there are both too many people and too little people.

This sums it up right here. Get on the wiki and do some research of your level range. Heck even a /who all 20 30 or what ever your level range is can let you see what's up.
Travel to the zone and get on lists while you have your LFG TAG up. Once you're on all the lists you can think of then try and solo something you can handle while you wait. Otherwise do /who all lfg 20 30 (again whatever your level range is) if there is all the roles you need there find a camp and start sending some whispers.
LFG tag and just sitting there is for Druids and Wizards while they are porting or any other character which their owner (AKA the Player) is watching to TV or a movie and want to auto LFG while being lazy eating pizza. =)

Yeah plenty of people using it as the server to solo farm shit on (both plat and loot) I’m anticipation of the eventual merge since you can play on both simultaneously.

Well, I was exaggerating a bit. I'm nearly level 20 and finding groups so far hasn't been that hard at all even without actively trying to put them together myself.
