I was just enjoying the nostalgia of EQ, listening to Alice in Chains and the killing orcs of my younger days. Then it hit me. This is "classic." You know what else was "classic" when I was a kid? My father going to old car shows and listening to music from the 50s. You know, enjoying the "classic" nostalgia. So congratulations, we've become our dads, but more boring. Enjoy the mid-life crisis!

old cars and music are objectively better than what was contemporary at the time just like everquest is objectively better than newer mmo's

More boring? I don't know about more boring.

Another good thing about getting older is not giving a F. Clothes not stylish enough? You think my hobbies are boring? So what?

Nostalgia might have brought you here (I notice the Aug '19 join date) but it won't KEEP you here. Once you get past the obsolescent graphics EQ's a fine game in its own right. P1999 isn't new; it's been running for over a decade now. Welcome to the club.

I thought midlife crisis means buying a motorcycle, not rolling a halfling druid.

If you set your expectations low enough, you get a lot more happiness out of crap.

I've rolled a halfling druid long before my midlife crisis, it's the only way to travel! :)

This isn't a midlife crisis. This is the age old question of "Would you go through highschool/college all over again, knowing what you know now". The answer is obviously yes.

Too bad the previous generation pissed it away to maximize their investment returns and to try to prevent shitlibs from calling them a racist.

Classic to me is soloing in Lower Guk whilst listening to random techno songs that I downloaded off of Kazaa. For that reason alone, I always associate undead frogs with techno music. Thanks, 15-year-old Me.
