From what I can find and recall, Asystole was a vendor spell. Maybe this wasnt until Kunark, since shadow knights also get access to this spell. However, I cannot find any information on research components for this spell, either.

Was this spell mistakenly removed from vendors?

Wasn't added until Feb 2000, along with twitch, leach, scent line, a few others. It was part of the compensation package for the pet daggers nerf.

I agree. And pet damage. And make mage pets fully classic re: lack of spells and dual wield.

Put in in Feb 2000? Was it on a vendor then, or was it research only until Kunark release? Definitely vendor buyable in OT as it's SK 60 spell.

The spell was always vendor buyable, but wasn't put into the game until Feb 2000.

I don't mind un-classic changes to fix things that were downright wacky doodle in original live. Necros remain the most ridiculously easy class to play despite those changes, and I played them in classic and on blue and now that we're back I'll probably create one on green, because I like having a low-stress character who can just wander around alone smiting the crap out of everything. A necro duo with SOW can wipe any reasonably-leveled outdoor zone (or should be able to) while simultaneously doing itemized taxes.

Ease of a class has little to do with it. As far as "classic as possible" goes, a lot of the selective changes irk me a bit. I understand if it is an issue of manpower, but many changes back to classic seem highly arbitrary, not limited to just casters. Removing mage spell lines (because classic) and clarity (because classic) and necro spell lines (because classic), but not putting in the same timeline specific pet changes (or the ridiculously broken and OP gate ring), are just more examples of this.

Not a whine by any means. I love what the devs do and I am glad for this project. I do however wish there was some communication on their decisions. Or just give me my warez!

Agreed it is a bit off to me as well that Asystole is not in game.

Asystole was put in game to offset the necro pet damage nerfs. These nerfs, though not classic, remain in game. But Asystole maintains its original timeline.

Another interesting thing I found while digging...some posts claiming the original necro spell Invoke Death summoned a lvl 48-50 pet "before the pet nerf".
