View Full Version : Is it just green/teal that have messed up server ticks?

It's really frustrating have your mana essentially stolen. I'm finding it impossible to ensure I'm getting my meditation ticks while minimizing sitting time.

What's messed up about it? I only started playing EQ when green came out so this is an earnest question

The mana bar jumps all over the place making it hard to know when you got your "tick".

It's an idosincracy if the titanium client. The client shows what it thinks the values should be. This is then corrected by the server to classic values. Welcome to the server

Once you figure out the right tick, you can ignore the other one and, yes, time your sits.

But how do you "keep" knowing which is which. Stuff happens and you can't constantly keep it on your radar.

It will take you only one tick to figure out the cycle.

But I can't see the second tick if the first one goes off.

It's the second tick that brings your health and mana back down. First tick is too much, second tick corrects it. When you are real low level you won't be able to tell from the mana bar, so look at health numbers instead. Once you are 20+ you should be able to see the mana correction.

Wait for the correction before you stand.

For me this only seems to happen with the health bar, I'm only level 22 though

The health bar is even crazier it seems to jump around 4 times a cycle. Actually i just looked it does 3 jumps down up down.

Easiest way to tell is health regen. You regen a small amount of hp/tick depending on level (see: https://wiki.project1999.com/Character_Races#Increased_HP_Regeneration). If your health goes up more than that, that's not the server tick. When the real server tick happens, your hp will get knocked down to its true value (+ whatever hp from where it was previously, per the previous link). Then you can stand, do your casts, whatever, and sit down before 6 seconds elapse.

You can also set up a timer for the real tick.

However you try to manage it, it's a PITA, particularly playing a shaman. The value of canni goes down fast trying to catch ticks between other spells.

But would you give up the titanium client for this to be fixed?

Hell yeah. Bu it's not even because I care about the regen display. It's because we could have functioning endurance!

Hows that work? i'm a little slow.

Probably just set a timer on your phone to 6 seconds then start it using the method I described previously. Personally I've never bothered with it since it's easy to tell when a real tick has happened by watching hp numbers, cast spells, sit. You get into a rhythm with it after awhile.

Sometimes "i get it" other time the ghost tick keeps stealing my god damn mana and i can't figure out which is which. This is really starting to piss me off.
