I like the necromancer play style but both green and teal are bursting with them. I'm thinking a melee class as a change since they seem underrepresented. But, will it really matter as far as guilding/grouping a year or so down the line?

Expect to see a ton of baby melee characters in the coming months. Once Rogues gets Evade and people start collecting enough plat to at least semi-twink themselves.

Yup. Already many pallies with ghoulbanes running around.

Come kunark there will be a ton of really shitty shaman players who will never make it to 60, get torpor or their epic.
But they read how 'powerful' the class can be and get stars in their eyes with no real mind to the journey and skill required.

a bunch of plat farming classes at launch is nothing to worry about.

edit: oh and a bunch of shitty iksar monks who think they're the next bruce lee but in reality are the Beverly Hills Ninja

And how is Beverly Hills Ninja not an aspiration in itself? Save the day, get the girl!

Get epic, then 60, then Torpor, you clearly don't know shaman.

1. It's pretty unlikely you're going to raid much. Raid content is going to be split between two or three ultra-neckbeard guilds, and for most of us, that level of dedication to camping Talendar just isn't there. Don't sweat that stuff.

2. Every class thins out at higher levels, no matter what. There will always be fewer max-level necromancers than level 20 necromancers.

3. Your grouping prospects will be determined mostly by your reputation as a player, not by the class you've chosen.
