When Green isn't even at 2k
1.6k online on a sunday afternoon.....
Opening day it was like 2.6k and even with 2.1k online I still have no problem finding shit to exp on in newb yards or find groups for stuff. Right now there are zero people in runny eye...

yea lets have like 800 people on each server or less

Its rampant and this announcement was recent. Also not necessary. 1.5k online during a weekend does not warrant another server to split the community

it worked for whoever got staff to open another server to split the 1500 player base into 2
server was 2.6k and now 1.5k on a weekend, tomorrow morning you ll be lucky to have 900 online
once people realize how grindy this is they will drop off after the 1st few hell lvls or make alts or just go back to blue/red or quit entirely

I see 1.9k on at 8:30am PST. Even that is too much.
If the population drops they’ll merge them. There is literally no downside.

literally you can box on teal and green
literally the market will be flooded with items and econ shit due to more rares
literally could list more but since staff is doing this anyway I will let you figure the rest out
cant connect with certain people that focused on crafting, splitting up guilds, community, your gonna lvl with people for 50 lvls then suddenly merge 1.5k people who you have never met or played with before into your realm, their will be no need for reputation when the server will be merged
overall eq is a community game splitting the server is a dead deal imho

just before sony stopped posting numbers on their servers login screen, the busiest would have approx. 1700-1900 during prime time weekends. the one i played on had 1200-1300. 1900 on Sunday morning is crazy high.

P1999 is a great place, been here for years, truly #blessed that such a thing exists in this day in age. That said, P1999 is also a refuge for mal-adjusted manbabies who have nothing better to do, which brings with it a bunch of unfortunate behaviors. Mix that with the staff's laid-back attitude toward forum moderation and you get the P1999 forums, where the internet's finest all have a soapbox to voice their crappy "opinions".

the solution is server pop based spawn rate normalization but i'll take a server split

Not really, the wiki has 10 years worth research and documentation of spawn timers. Normalizing spawn rates for every zone isn't the best solution IMO.

there was 1600 people online at 10AM EST (7AM PST)
there was 12 druids in EK charming with 2-3 bards Quadding. I ran to Oasis to see if maybe I could play there, there's a group killing stuff in every corner (orc highway, orc ruin, croc 1, croc 2, derv) Went down to Guk to see what was up there, 45 people in the zone. Did some /who on unrest.
I don't love the idea of teal but when I can't play at all, I can see why they are doing it. I logged on early morning to get some XP in, seems like most people had the same idea.
I mean just because a zone like permafrost is far away.... doesn't mean it should be ignored. I wish there was more incentive for people to go off the beaten path, I know Perma for only 20% extra XP seems bad risk, but there is alot of unused zones.
I thought green might force people to get off the beaten path and go to weird zones for XP but I guess it's hard to justify running thru west karana for 20% XP in a dungeon with alot of casters when you can just go get double XP in Guk or Unrest assuming you find a group.
Classic does not seem like it was made for 2000+. Kunark would add Lake of Ill Omen, WW, Overthere which all add a shit ton of level ranges viability grouping and soloing.

Lol since when

If you wanted a camp you could just take it and the person or group who did over 50% damage got the kill.
With all the non classic rules constricting play styles to such a linear controlled grind it makes sense to open a new server.
If it were classic 2 thousand plus people would be an absolute blast to play but... because of all the rules it's just drama city who would've guessed

As someone who played i'm calling bs. As long as you did 50% of the damage you got the kill there was never any rules about it this is how the term kill stealing came to be.
It wasn't for a while that any actual rules came about to try and fix that.
I understand ruffly 5 out of 1 a hundred people but probably much less more like 1 in 300 people actually played EQ when it came out here. Most of the people on p99 started sometime during Kunark and have no idea what actual classic was like.

Reading this and your other posts, you come across as a guy with a strong interest in keeping items super rare.
It doesn't take a leap of logic to assume you are benefiting from that rarity in some meaningful way.
As someone playing a game, it would mean you would hold a sense of value and accomplishment in the item you 'earned'. But your anger seems to far exceed this.
I wonder what benefit you are looking to leverage in a restricted economy.

So much this! I’m reading some of these posts and scratching my head, because I played EQ the year it came out my entire summer vacation. I remember there being rules that were player and guild enforced about stealing camps, ninja looting, training, etc. Maybe some of you played on servers that were full of a-holes, but on E’ci the experience was much more “play nice.”

When I logged in today it was over 2k. The split needs to take into account server loads at peak times, which are over 2200 nightly. Anything over 1200 and an EQ server started to get a bit crowded. So, logging in on a Sunday morning and seeing 1600 on is indicative of overcrowding in and of itself, since you're over optimum population in a non-peak playtime.

Personally there are still mobs that are in game and items dropping for the Temple of Ro quests and many other classes to make classic like the mage/pet classes. I say make as many changes as possible
Bring Teal online then once those that want to transfer have done so, reset ALL chars to level 1 with their newb items. Call it a test run and have at with both servers racing to complete the 1st' s.
So many classic purists should embrace the challenge.

This is the official Colours list for future servers in P99:
Green -> Teal -> Cyan -> Magenta -> Fuchsia ->Amboge -> Feldgrau -> Caput Mortuum -> Saruman
Once Saruman opens new servers will begin using a new Colour scale:
Once Saruman inevitably splits into Gandalf and goes back to White new colours for servers will be measured directly in nanometers and THz.
Once this Scale is expended we will go full Lovecraftian.

Lets discuss, rationally..
Even if it is 800 people per server, in classic why is that so bad? There will still be plenty of people to group with AND mobs to kill.
Nothing about a second server makes the game any easier or more difficult; so maybe you should respect your time (and others) more. There is just no need to be running around an overpopulated server when there is enough players to divide into two halves without sacrificing much of anything at all.
If the second server split the population so bad that that one was hurting and you couldn't find groups, that is a separate argument. The simple fact is that currently we can functionally split the population, so why don't you want to is really a better question; Why are you so adamant to keep the status quo? What are the pros and cons you are so concerned about? You've listed one - the population will be too divided. Well, they already addressed that advising they could be merged if needed down the line.
Really the only down-fall I can come up with: is that there will be more classic items in the overall server should they be merged. Is that really such a bad thing though; that people play and actually achieve something without literally sacrificing their health trying to stick it out on a /list like a pixelated game of survivor? haha.
End-game grouping and raiding will probably still be a cluster fuck even with 800 people each; Plus you can still go to runny eye if you want to! I don't think it will be camped much either way ;)

I was in Green Crushbone for a long time yesterday. I think I had about 8-9 people waiting to get on the list to join the TR group, and nobody wanted to leave because the XP was so good.
That as an example, this is why teal is a good idea. People end up solo camping a minotaur in steamfont chugging along at about 10% of what they could be doing in terms of XP.
